Extreme LAAAGG!
Hi All,
Not sure if this is the correct spot to post this in but I am having some serious gaming issues.
My PC Specs:
Inter Core2Duo 2.33
3x DDD2 800Mhz
1x250 SATA II (80gb Main Partition 170 Sec Partition)
2x 320 SATA II
1x 1TB SATA II
512MB Gefore 8600GT (latest Forceware 185.x)
Intel DG33 series Mobo
19" and 17" Dual Monitor
XP 32Bit SP3
My issues:
When i play latest games for example COD 5.. even playing with the LEAST amount of graphics and on lowest res I still get lag.
I have a similar issue with are FarCry II (can only play on Low-Med Spec) and this extends to a few others as well.
I know it cant be my specs as it is quite a bit more than the recommended specs for most games.
Can anyone maybe give me some REAL tips regarding this?
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Extreme LAAAGG!
weakest point is your GFX, rest of your system is pretty solid.... most manufacturers recommend what you have for average to low gameplay..... do yourself a favour and bin that card especially if its a ddr2 version.....
i would personally recommend an 8800gt..... you can pick up 2nd hand ones for the same price you paid for your 8600gt.

Hey, thanks for the welcoming and the heads up.. i only paid 400 for my GFX.. but I am looking at upgrading it.
Someone told me i need to steer away from GS and GT's and move to something that ends in an S or X for eg.. GTX.
Is this true? I mean does it make much of a difference?

8800gt/9800gt are pretty darn decent cards! if you're in the market, you should check around some computer forums for second hand deals. quite a few 8800gt cards popping up in various places.

yeah... i should look, but one needs to be very weary of purchasing things over the internet. ppl claim it works or they'll send to you etc.. but you never recieve or its DOA!
But if the oke lives in the cape town area, we can talk... I'd dig to get gaming on full graphics.. Like the good ol days.. LOL

if you're on a forum with a busy enough classifieds section you can normally find out if the guy's a trustworthy seller. browse through the classifieds at systemshock or prophecy and you'll find someone worth buying from. we have our own classifieds here, but the permissions are set so you can't view it until you have like 100 posts or something like that.

Re: Extreme LAAAGG!
How many gigs of ram do you have? you might want to consider ditching that third ram card and going to 4 cards with 2 matched pairs? so your baord runs in dual channel mode. though, bare in mind, 32bit OSes won't see more than 4 gigs.
otherwise, there is nothing wrong with the g33 chipsets. I had one, well still do.

Re: Extreme LAAAGG!
the 8600GT isn't that bad, I have one in my girlfriends pc and she plays COD4 and CSS with us. Running at 1280x1024 the card runs different games with varying settings.
I'd suggest trying to either get more RAM or cutting down to 2xRAM stick (not sure how much you have besides 3x DDR2). Also try clean up you pc, defrag, use CCleaner and just do all round house cleaning

nooit dude, he's even l33t3r ... he has DDD2 800MHz! you know how orsom that stuff is!Vampyre_2099 wrote:(not sure how much you have besides 3x DDR2)
why on earth is one stick sitting on your desk? are you trying memory-via-osmosis? Firestrm tried that for months, he says it doesn't work. put it in the empty slot.raymondfranco wrote:Hi,

and stay away from xp64 (imho). vista/win7 64, fine, xp not so much.

use the other stick, unless its broken or useless, like being DDR2 instead of DDD2raymondfranco wrote:Hi,

yeah, xp 64bit works, buuuuut not too well. get win7 if you want 64bit, I'd only use Vista as a last resort... (my own opinion)Stuart wrote:and stay away from xp64 (imho). vista/win7 64, fine, xp not so much.
