My wife needs a tablet as she getting quite good in Photoshop. Besides that, she is studying into a graphics design direction. I think at the moment, the mouse is holding her back and that a (graphics) tablet would help her
I know absolutely boggerall about `em.
My budget is in the region of about R2500. What would you guys recommend?

Why would you say the mouse is holding her back?
Is she an illustrator? If so try to get hold of a Wacom tablet?
If its normal design stuff then a tablet is overkill. Ive been desigining for 10 years now and Ive only used a tablet once and that was for illustration.

She paints alot on canvas and also studied for a career in the theatre but there isnt a future in SA for theather, less so if you are married, you have to move around alot, following shows.
She does work pretty much like in the magazine, ImagineFX, not yet as good but trying. As she is used to handling a brush, we thought the next logical step is to get a tablet but as our knowledge about them are very limited, we thought, we'd ask some ppl that know.
We have looked at those wacom tablets and some of them are very expensive, out of out budget...

Another option is the Genius tablets. I have an A3 one at work and its pretty good.
If she is used to a brush and canvas then the tablet will work well.

I agree with maxxis.
Wacom for pros, but you do pay pro prices.
Genius is good, and more affordable.

I would go with Wacom.
I have a Trust Graphics Tablet, and they rubbish. I do know that most Tablets come with a laser Pen however my pen came with a battery hence making the pen a little bit heavier than usual.
