Is DSL really worth it

Post by NeuSp33d »

ive been over seas 8) and ADSL costs a mere R120 p\m
in SA its R680  im just hoping that when this new telephone operator (Second National Operator) comes into place the prices of thing will halve
(take America for example they have 4 telephone operators and it costs them $18 pm, trust me ive been there)
me and me father were discussing if we should or should not get ADSL but now i need your guys advice. :D
(if there are any other costs invlove please let me know)
ADSL would be cool to have but its expensive and i must imagine after a while it must ge booring

I think it all depends on how much you're looking to download. Adsl is plus minus R700 a month, but then you also have to pay your service provider, which could be another R150 a month more or less. Telkom have capped the service to 3gigs per month, so if you're a download junky, don't bother unless you're prepared to get two dial-up accounts.

Try www.myadsl.co.za for some more information. The site is a great help, and gives a lot of pros and cons for the service.
