More info than a tip, but hey, maybe someone get an idea from it.

The Hardcore Reactor Oil Cooled Desktop PC

Image
Oil immersion has long been relegated to the realm of home-built, custom made PC’s, which is a real shame because it’s so darn effective and efficient in cooling computers and keeping them silent. Typical home setups have non-conductive oil running through a pump system, often to an external heat dispersal system. Of course, this requires not only the skill to build the computer first, but being patient and smart enough to deal with the mess of oil around computer parts. Thus, only the most dedicated PC enthusiasts even bother with this.

Hardcore, a new PC manufacturing company, wants to change all that by introducing a line of computers in which all the internals, not just selected components, are completely submerged in non-conductive oil starting with the PC you see above, named the Reactor. Better yet, low end pricing starts at an affordable $4000 (a relative bargain for oil cooled PC’s). And make no mistake, you get a lot of power for that price.

Cute little saw that may have some potential to modders. Check out the video as well to see how versatile it is. And don't compare it to a Dremel. Obviously there's no comparison. This would be for larger jobs like cutting side panels etc.

That looks interesting and nifty. I'll have a better look at home so i can view the flashfile.

I know dremel have a jigsaw attachment but its only for the xplr 400 series. :(

Just a thought I had the other day while sitting in front of my pc for a mod. Chances are I'll prob never mod again, seriously at least, but hows this idea:

Take an old Optical drive, strip and mod it so a HD fits on the tray so when you eject the tray with the open/close button the Hard drive comes out on the tray. No more opening side-panels. then just plug out and vwala.
What you think?

It could work, you'd need remove some of the electronics. the biggest hurdle would of course be the complex mechanism that works the tray. most optical drives lift the tray then push it out. so there is quite a bit of movement involved.

I just came across these chassis: http://www.gmc.co.kr/language/english/p ... t_atx.html

Has anyone else seen them. I would like to know if they are available locally. Sybaritic has the brand listed but nothing available.
They aren't fancy overclockers cases but nice for a standard case replacement. I like these:

Interesting vertical installed optical drive.

you can install an optical drive in any manner except upside down. open your drive and look at the tray, you'll see 4 lugs on the edge of that recess, these keep your disk from falling out at a funny angle. the older drives either had a wire that you hooked across the top or lugs that you rotated out. :D

but none the less, that a cool looking install :)

Silicon works quite well with glass - just go look at fish tanks...

For plexi you will need someting that is very strong like epoxy and the only thing I would suggest is Pratley's Quick set clear.
