havent you heard of the guys who have been found downloading music and fined by the RIAA - plus now the isp´s have to provide the names of suspcted offenders since a precedent has been set - so its no more illegal downloading for me - dont think that you are safe since they are only prosecuting people in America at the moment - when they do decide to set an example here you dont want to be the example that they set

Let´s face it. It´s illegal to download some of the software but try to stop Kazaa and some other program is going to pop up. The only b*tch is downloading a whole weekend on a 200mb+ file and it´s a either the wrong program(some uploaders seem have a problem macthing the right names to the right programs) or it doesn´t work.

Whether or not Kazaa is legal or not is questionable and still being tried in many courts.

However, if ne1 wanted to use Kazaa without the threat of being caught or something all ya gotta do is get behing a proxy 1, anonymous server and then it will be damn near to impossible to trace an upload or download back to you.

By doing this you also enable yourself to download from, and visit other websites without being caught, for certain illegal issues, or giving away ur valuable info.
Get behind a proxy and a decent firewall and Kazaa will be all fun and games, and no worries.

Just how would I go about getting behind a proxy DrunkA$$? Not that I use Kazaa for any downloading or anything , but just hypothetically of course, in case I knew a friend who did

To help your friend, programs such as stealther have been created, there are others but this one is fairly simple and good.

Go to http://www.stealther.com/ , download the software, install and follow the instructions and just like that they cant catch you.....at least it´s damn hard to.

Youll have to setup proxy for IE or what ever u use, but its easy.

Your friend may want to setup kazaa in this fashion, once stealther is installed, but thats not difficult either.

Tell your friend it´s a pleasure.

Isnt it kinda impossible to shut down kazaa, coz it uses other computers as the servers (supernodes). So they could even drag the programmers into court or whateva but they still wont be able to shut down kazaa, coz it has random servers. Am i correct in saying this or not?

Yup itd be impossible to totally shut down kazaa as there are no dedicated servers that it runs off of...(well... im at least 80% sure im right )

I use Kazaa when I do some part-time network admin, mostly to download music videos and live performances and stuff (no, seriously). I don´t wanna share or download any mp3´s because of this whole RIAA thing, and because I´m in a band myself and it would suck if everyone just got our music for free. I think it´s cool that you can download stuff like live performances from bands, cos it helps get their name out; besides, you can´t buy them like a cd, so why not download them?

Hey Harda$$, I´m behind a firewall here, but I use socks2http (a tunneling program) to get past it else Kazaa doesn´t work. I go thru a socks5 proxy, but I use a username & password to do so. Guess if I was sharing mp3´s I´d be busted then
