can Win 98 and XP be installed and run seperatly

XP Pro is Master skyf boot op en alles werk
WIN 98 is Slave maar boot nie op nie.

ek raak mal al met die ding nou sukkel ek ook met drywers vir Sound Blaster Live Value. Ek het die install disk maar Win 98 wil nie werk XP is fine.

Dump 98 lol. Gerbuik XP. As jy apps moet run op 98, gerbuik net compatibility mode in XP.

I'm pretty sure that there are enough old hardware lying around PCF users houses to easily build you a cheap Pentium 3 rig with a screen that you can install 98 on and the kids can have a dedicated education PC... a solution to the problem but still it is possible to dual boot 98 and XP... going to have another look at why yours doesn't want to work... brb

Please bear with me because it has been ages since I fiddled with 98 to XP (mostly XP to Vista now )... did you install 98 on your master HDD, and then while in 98 pop in the XP disk and started the installation running from inside 98? If memory serves you should then have been able to indicate an alternative place to install XP (the other HDD) and to select the fact that you want to duel boot. Then the boot menu should have been configured correctly for you and Bob should be your uncle...

Then again I could be completely wrong... if I am I'm sticking with my idea about building a cheap rig.

I first installed XP on a 30G drive and then Win98 on a 10G drive.
XP is the master and Win98 slave on Primary slot.

You need to install the older OS first on the master then install XP otherwise win 98 wont be seen by the XP BOOT.ini as XP is part of the NT architecture and is a newer OS than 98 and is structured different.
