Re: Primes New Mod (as yet untitled) Update 02-01-09
Back of case: and this is infact what my psu looks like... there is a vent missing from the picture, beween the psu and io plate. all the other cut outs on the back are also vents and the expansion slo covers are vented.
Hdd cage and area with CPU beneath PSU fan: This lower area is vented on the side. its where the cut outs on my cover are That HDD cage fan is flush against the side so it facilitates not ventilation for the CPU area. I left my 2 ram cards out.
Right side: My graphics card is the same length as the radeon 2900 and cuts the case in half. there is only the little gap up at the top. currently the fromt fan blows down and hopefully some of that air goes into the GPU cooler. The Back fan blows ait up and out. And i'm probably going to put a third fan up at the top. Cd drives are not included in the model
Top view. andthere are no cables either
Any questions?

Re: Primes New Mod (as yet untitled) Update 02-01-09
edit: i'm curious to know, how long does a model take to make on average? Although i used several components, the actual frame was done using a tape measure and overall took about 7 hours.

Dude, i can't beleive how well it works. the cap leaks though and paint kept dripping out but i've fixed that with plumbing tape.UrBaN wrote:Eish, the man with the gun

im waiting for the paint to dry and harden so i can rub it down. then i need to figure out what the next coat will be.
I can aerosol it or spray it. but i need a base coat before i airbrush a design on.

I'll comment when it's done, but I can see you've planned thoroughly. Nice! Enjoying watching the mod take shape.

Re: Project Andromeda (Update 04-01-09)
You know, I was going to name my project Andromeda, but didn't because the Andromeda galaxy didn't have enough blue in it
So now you have a cool mod with a cool name
Btw, I admire your Sketchup skill

I just like the name. not sure how much relevance it has. *shrug*TheModDoctor wrote:You know, I was going to name my project Andromeda, but didn't because the Andromeda galaxy didn't have enough blue in it

Thanks, I used alot of components, things like the MB and fans and PSU. but the frame i did myself with a tape measure.
Thanks.D3PART3D wrote:I'll comment when it's done, but I can see you've planned thoroughly. Nice! Enjoying watching the mod take shape.
Right, well i seem to be stuck. My aunt and uncle have volunteered to see what sort of louvered vents they can find me in canada and post them in which case i have up to a motnths wait. Its that or i have to make my own. I do not have a milling machine. The small lathe once was capable of milling but when the original motor burnt out and was replaced, that functionality was lost.
With out the Vents, cannot do the airbrushing.
So i guess, for now, i ought to research whats available airbrush wise.

Re: Project Andromeda (Update 04-01-09)
I cannot seem to find anything sensible about airbrushes.
I've been told that parts for badger aribrushes are virtually no existant locally. I know of an online store that stocks parts but they are all the way down in PE and expensive. They sell a decent range or airbrushes and parts though.
Herbert Evans only sell Aztec and recommend only Aztec because of parts.
I found the local agents but afaik, they won't deal with the public.
This is a selection of locally available products

http://www.testors.com/category/136949/Airbrushes (the manufacturers website gives best detail in this instance)
or

I am reading mixed reviews everywhere i look.

Re: Project Andromeda (Update 07-01-09)
Ok, so a quick explanation.
Those vents will be 2 or 3 mm thick alu plate. If i can fix our milling machine or use someone elses, i'll just mill them. Otherwise, i'll have to get them laser cut. Laser cutting with give a superior result, however, i need to find some place to do it, any personal recommendations?
The top ones are easy but the sides are 34 mm in length.

Re: Project Andromeda (Update 07-01-09)
Right, well this is now on hold. I've decided i'm getting a bigger case. as awesome as this case is, for my uses, its too damn small.i'll finish the sides off with fine mesh or something, and then i'm probably going to sell my current baord and case to my gran as part of a computer because she wants a PC.

that will also help me with my cooling problems. And i'll add a thermalright cooler.
