Re: My potentially new system...
I'd go for a 650w psu or more just to be safe

Re: My potentially new system...
Motherboard: I'd really rather go for the Msi K9A2 CF-F. It has 2x PCI-E x16 slots, and a better NB (AMD 790X). Although the Asus has a newer SB (SB700). Plus they both are about the same price.
CPU: Good.
Ram: Good.
GFX: Good. BTW, where are you buying this from? Thats a very good price for the 4850.
Screen: Well personally I'll avoid Samsung due to reliability, but I know that their colors are excellent.
Chassis: Nah dude, get this one
PSU: To be safe and more future proof get a bigger one. But is Isonic a good make?
Overall I think thats a fairly good system

I'm not sure but I think Isonic is cheaper because it's a South African make, thus no need to import it.Frozenfireside wrote:seriously, wtf? R270 for a 500watt PSU?iSONIC MEGAPOWER 500WATT (R269.04)

Re: My potentially new system...
This might have been an isolated case, but exactly a month after I bought my Samsung screen, a whole row of pixels died. PC International sent it back to Samsung, but they never gave it back... So PC Int gave me another screen.ADV4NCED wrote:What reliability issues you got with Samsung's ?TheModDoctor wrote:

And this is apart from their crappy cd-roms. I had two, and both broke, where one took a cd with him to his grave
Even my samsung cellphone is unreliable!!
Maybe saamsing isn't that bad, but I've never had any pleasant experiences with their products.

I also love Samsung. Had 4 Samsung screens sofar. I have a 17" CRT for my testing linux server, Had 2x 226BW that were stolen(was really good screens) and now have a T-260. The T-260 is the most awesome screen ever. Haven't had a single dead pixil on any of the lcd's.

Re: My potentially new system...
Get a bigger screen and future proof that psu.
As far as Samsung goes, I have owned a 17" SyncMaster which I traded for RAM when I got my current Samsung 2053BW. It's awesome. I would in my life never buy a Samsung phone or optical drive though...

Re: My potentially new system...
Samsung optical drives aren't that bad any more. I used to have the same stance as you, but in the last year or so I have known several people with Samsung drives that are still chugging along nicely.
Nice system there, Zaphrox. I agree with the others though: Get a better PSU.

Re: My potentially new system...
How would the Gigabyte ODIN 585W PSU stack up against the iSONIC MEGAPOWER 600WATT PSU @ R222.66 more??

Um, no, actually on the contrary... i've had an Isonic 500W modular psu for over a year now, running my rig at first, now it runs my wifes with absolutely no problem whatsoever... plus i know others that have the same psu with no issues...Frozenfireside wrote:seriously, wtf? @Zaphrox: Yeah, the Odin should do just fine.
