In a surprise move, Microsoft has announced it will offer a free anti-virus and security solution from the second half of next year.

Could be useful *shrug* - I guess if you're choosing between the free av's you would have to consider the free version from MS - let's hope it's good (don't hold your breath though)

I thought they'd been doing this all along, with every windows patch? (most companies think to include it in their OS from installation )

i read bout this also. they plan to stop there live one care service and offer free protection. its better than nothing. i mean how many people don't have anti virus on there pc cos they don't know what it is. (My dad is one of them.)
