Nope but they do know about them by now, a few people from here emailed and thats seems to be where it ended. These guys must have found a huge loop-hole somewhere. I just think that it would be "nice" of them to tell people that they are pirated copies...chances are the people that do shop there will carry on.

I read somewhere that 40% of the DVD's in our country is pirated.
And if that this number would increase DVD distros imports will stop.
Most illegal DVD's comes from Pakistan and Thailand(?).

i will admit that this forum has seriously stinted my pirating ways, i use to get games whenever i wanted them but nowadays i find myself buying a consideral amount of 'Sierra Bestsellers' and 'EA Classics', you get really good deals on those games! Doom3 is next on my list.

anyway, that's about it for my feelings on software...erm...burn cybergames

I have a certain well meaning family member who, when buying me a game, buys it from Cybergames... despite my pointing out that Cybergames sell pirated cr@p, she continues to do so.

If it helps, I only buy original stuff when buying myself software.

Just found this, dont know if its still ongoing but at least its listed
SAFACT Website (www.safact.co.za) wrote:
The following High Court matters have been finalized this year, resulting in many instances, in an interdict against the respondents, making it illegal for him or her to be associated in any way with counterfeit goods. Costs have been awarded against the respondents, and where these costs cannot be recovered, this may result in the Sheriff of the High Court attaching property to the value of the costs. This process has already started. Judgements have been obtained in our favour against the following individuals and/or companies: A Khan t/a King Blanket in Kimberley, A Naicker of Durban, Andre Smith of Bloemfontein, Francois Oelofse, Gabriel Moses of Cape Town, George Meyer t/a Video House, John Sotiralis, Junaid Shamsodien of Cape Town, Mohammed Akhalwaya, Rory Griessel, Shah Ahmed of Cape Town, Y H Liao, Game Galaxy CC. including the two members M Mocke and M Welthagen, Gert Norden, Zaere Saley and Paul Samuels t/a Cybergames.

We expect many more successes of this nature to follow, as a number of cases are still pending before the court

its brilliant that many of us have taken this stand against piracy, but it just shows how pathetic the legal procedure in sa is, i mean cybergames have been around for like 4 years, and been busted once, yet there able to advertise in a sunday newpaper and on top of that are still operating, and making what is basically illegal money.

I think they're also pirates! The shop is across the road from my work in centurion and i've been in there once or twice and saw a couple games in normal CD cases which i'm sure isn't right! (i'm not that big into gaming so i wouldn't know.

Haven't bought (or really played) games for quite a while but if i do i'll make sure of where i buy them!!

Regarding that website u posted ... http://www.enigmatek.co.za .. gotta say thanks!

I visited the site, registered, the item that I ordered actually dropped in price and it wasn't updated yet, so i got it for BELOW what i saw it there for !!!! That is very very rare, I ordered tiger woods 2004 ps2, I placed the order on monday .. and was able to collect it on friday from my post office. What's more, you were right about the prices, who needs to pirate when you can get the original for a decent price. I was thinking maybe it's a bit weird, but I got my game from there and everything is original.

I would recommend this site to anyone, and i'm sure in the future this site is going to be one of the best things to happen to the online south african gaming community. I have it now as one of my favourites because they are up to date with games and have pictures and information on everything they sell. So no more "no image available, no info available."!

Bust on CyberGames

Post by LiZZ8rD »

(Original) Taken from www.playstation.co.za

Organised Crime Unit JHB and internal legal consultant Corne Guldenpfennig take on Cybergames and Gameworld!

Corne comments: "I am pleased to advise that we busted Cybergames on the 27/11/03, at about 5h15 which lasted until 10h30. It was a HUGE surprise to them as they are apparantely well connected with the people conducting raids and always know when to expect a bust. Well, well, this time they didn't expect a thing.

Obviously we received resistance, but Organised Crime handled it very well and acted professionally throughout. The owner was arrested and jailed last night at about 10h00. This bust was done in terms of the Tax and Customs Acts so that there cannot be any space for loopholes!A total of about 565 PlayStation One games were seized and approximately 128 PlayStation 2 games were siezed. That same evening, Game World, up the road, was relieved of 103 PlayStation One games and 1 PlayStation 2 games (the majority at this shop was DVD though). The owner was arrested and jailed on the evening of 28/11/03"

All we at PlayStation can say is: Watch out, the Piracy Watchdog is on guard!

- Thats probably the reason why you have not recieved a reply from them.....
