Re: Show Off yr Sigs
@Acid. nice work on the new sig
@OTC. awesomeness on the HG:L one. the second doesn't look right though, could just be my preference. i couldn't find the subject of your picture at first, only after i started typing this did i see it. i added a Sharpen filter and it looked much better or maybe you could just sharpen the surfer dude. otherwise nice work. also i love that border on nr.2
btw could you pm me some of the gfx sites you're at, havn't been to any in quite a long while so i've lost or forgotten the addy's

Okay, so I was playing around a little. Tell me now, there seems to be a lot of talk here about blending. What method(s) of blending are generally the best, or is it entirely a case by case thing? So look at what I was playing with, and tell me how I could improve the blending of Rayne into the background.

Re: Show Off yr Sigs
Oooh looking good Stuart - can't help you with the blending though. I would use a shadow or halo effect - but I am not good with avvies and sigs

Re: Show Off yr Sigs
would say it is a case by case thing...
most people like not having the render "pop" out and thus do some blending...
I usually just duplicate the render a few times, setting each layer to whichever blending option looks nicest, and then eventually I might just leave the final duplicated render alone but lower the opacity quite a bit...
other methods would be to use a soft or even hard brush and erase edges here and there...
another method would be to feather the edges, though that tends to give you a more "solid" visible edge still...
here is one which I made while teaching some1 basics of smudging and yes I know, the blending is bit strong, where I used that feather technique and duplicate renders:
