GeForce 8600GT Temperatures?

Post by Sir_LamoraK »

The Zalman fan on my XFX XXX 8600GT stoped working, and I replaced the fan with a Thermalright HR-03 Rev.A VGA Cooler + Vantec Stealth 92mm fan (and some Arctic Silver 5).

At idle GPU is at 49 degrees.....
At load GPU is at 94 degrees....!

(Temps from HWMonitor)

Is this safe? What seems to be the problem. I checked...the heatsink is seated properly.

Did you put thermal paste on the GPU before putting the fan on?

Fan running @ 100% ?

Even @ 60% those load temps look too high

I'd do a re-mount if I were you

The fan is plugged into one of the mb fan connectors. There is no way to change the fan (speed) setting.

I’ll do a re-mount tonight. I’ve also read on the net that Arctic Silver 5 requires a break-in period of 100 hours. Can this be the issue…I doubt it?

TX for the replies....appreciated!

WTF, get some airflow in the case, take a compressor and blow the fan and heatsink clean, check if the fan is running as it should...

If you don't find a solution to the problem, take it back to where you bought it and let them check

Woah those temps are very bad, I got the same card as well but with the Zalman VF700-Cu LED and the highest temps I've seen under load is 60 degrees (running OC'd to 680mhz core clock) and that's off the one card that is running hot in my rig.
Is this thing on?Helloooo?

Yes but even while not 'burnt in' it still wont be THAT high. I was going to say remount it.
Soon Google will know everything...including how to divide by zero :(
