Project: Obsidian (Pics added)
Hey guys and girls.
I've been hit by an idea for a case mod that may be very simple to pull off.
A few issues of PCF ago my PC was rig of the month. Now, since my hardware has changed alot since then, I have decided to get rid of the Blue lighting and rework some of the paint.
Yesterday, I got hold of two Vantec TF12025 fans (black). So to start I'm gonna rip out the blue fan in the rear, then the blue LED fan in the front and replace them with the Vantecs.
I'm gonna tint/paint the side window to make it darker. Then I'm gonna paint the whole interior black, satin or matt.
Now, my mobo is black, as is my sound card, only problem is my 8800GT is green. So I'll have to trade or sell it to get a black one.
The only form of lighting might be a single UV light since it's sometimes referred to as a black light.
I think that's all for now.
Let me know what you guys think, and please give me ideas if you think of something better.
Thanks, Llewellyn.

Sounds good.
I have one suggestion though. Having a window in a case where everything is black means that at night, you won't see a thing in that PC. If the window is tinted, you won't see much in the day either. Also, the fact that it's a UV light means you won't really get any benefit from it (unless you have UV reactive stuff in your case).
Instead of the UV light, put in a white light. Preferably LEDs. The white light will complement the black very very well, and it'll also give off the idea that you are focusing on black, as white light isn't really a "colour" like red, blue, or green. All the white light will do is light up your hardware.
Congrats on making mod of the month BTW
EDIT: BTW, this mod had better be INSANE, because tribaloverkill's mod was called Blackout

That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.
Ok, as promised, I changed the name to Obsidian. Only prblem is that Onsidian is actually a shiny black. So I'll have to change my idea of matt or satin black to gloss black, I'm thinking of diamond black and to create a bit of a difference I'll stick to using matt or satin on the outside.
What I have done so far is mount the Vantec fans. They're actually ThermoFlow fans but I disabled the thermo switches to rev them up, I plan on adding a fan controller to help with the noise. At 2200rpm these fans give airflow of 96cfm, I'm running them at 2500rpm.
I'll add pics as soon as my photobucket account is sorted.
Cheers.

Ok, here we have three before shots. As you can see, very blue and bright.
Here's just after replacing that ghastly blue LED fan with a Vantech:
With the mesh:
Then on the case:
So, for now I concentrated on the fans only cause those fong kongs were not very good.
I will update as I go, maybe over the weekend.
Llewellyn.
