lappy gfx cards

Post by Parabuthus »

So this has probably been talked about to death and back but once more unto the breach. So yes, here I am sitting in Thailand and I finally find myself in a position to buy a lappy. Nothing amazing just a basic lappy with a semi ok gfx card. I have seen the Nvidia GT520MX, GT525M and GT540M in a few lappies around my price range (20k-25k bht, I5 2.4ghz, 4gig ram (1333htz) and a few other odds and sods) I have also seen plenty of AMD cards in comparable models of lappy, I cannot remember their numbers though. So the question is, which should I go for. Which models of gfx card will give me the best bang for my few bucks. Any help will be appreciated. Am heading into Puntip plaza tomorrow to look at the IT supermall.

If you can get a 540M for around R5k (equivalent), go for it. Coupled with the i5, you'll get a good package for the price. The Llano GPU in crossfire with the discreet card does a better job sometimes, but it seems to be a bit hit and miss. It also depends a bit on at what resolutions you want to game at.
