Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
Um, incidently are you running SP1? If not, see if you can rather get the complete install file and install it that way. I'm finally dual booting and after some hassles, have decided the only way service pack three on XP wants to be installed is the long way round, by downloading the entire package

Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
I suppose now is as is good a time as any to finish this project.
So, time willing and literature asside, the next couple of weeks are going to be dedicated to just that.
Thank you for being patient.

Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
I have a sneaky suspision that I will not be able keep to my word tomorrow night, so I have taken the initiative of doing an update today instead.
I had this in mind for the side panel:
But as usual, things change. Reason being that I did not feel like going through a whole laser cutting mission
Anyway let me continue with this, before I get distracted again.
The side panel has a basic shape at the moment and the allen screws are staying for two reasons:
1. It stops the two perpsex sheets from moving out of alignment when I cut and shape edges.
2. It will look flippin' excellent when the end result eventually comes to being.
Here is a case in point:
I tested my LED circuits, and since I could only (after the fact) remember which wires go where, managed to fry a couple of them. Anyone for 8 well done LEDs? Thought not. So take number 3 had me redoing 2 circuits, of which only one will be presented here:
Need I say that I have now run out of Amber LEDs? Dammit! I hate shopping
I firmly believe that there will be better moments, but here is the shocker of the moment:
I really hope VPO can forgive me for this blatant expose
No comment please. Pretty Please. With sugar on top. Ok?
An ideas I am implemeting at the moment include a blower which could possibly assist in taking the heat (and dust possibly?) away from my grafix card.
The side panel will accomodate the vent, but my friggin' rotary tool has finally given the ghost. More shopping. My wallet hates me.
Thats it for now.
Take it easy.

Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
Thanks to a slightly skinnier wallet:
A good choice in my opinion, and something which I certainly could not have done without.
Those fans were to be installed within the front besel, but I think looks much better here.
I can't wait to rip off the protective layer to see exactly what this is going to look like, but then again I should just keep in mind that replacing scratched perspex will be a costly exercise and better kept on 'till finished...the suspence is KILLING me.
Thanks for the motivation, Firestrm.
Until next, cheers.

Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
Small Fans . Trust me, if that panel is the size of your room, you need to get a bigger room.
An update tomorrow, methinks.

Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
I have come to the conclusion that the initial side panel design would need a whole bunch of intricate and split-worthy cuts.
Therefore, I present the final version. Please bear in mind that I am not a CAD or grafix designer so use a bit of imagination.
It goes thus:
Starting on it now. Wish me luck.
PS: The white dots represent LEDs which will be installed...not white though and also not surface mount...
Till later then.

Re: Project: Valkyri Phase One
Ow! That hurt my bandwidth. Sorry for the big picture
One massive update follows.
Some fitting, designing and implementing stuff...I'll save the comments
Some manual polishing skilllz, admittedly before the previous pics...
And then some fitting practice
I think I have created a monster, or, bitten off more than I can chew. We'll see tomorrow night
Till then, take it easy.
