Internet sharing on Windows 7

Post by A_BULLET »

Hello

I am trying to connect my pc to the Internet via a Laptop that has W-LAN.
I managed to do it once, but when I tried it with a other computer it doesnt work and only says
Unidentified network! And now that also happened with the Computer where it worked the first Time!
I can still acess shared files and have internet on the laptop but not on the PC. I tried for two days now
but cant find anything on google. both Computers have Win 7.

You're very short on the detail here - check link in my sig for advice on asking your questions in a better way.

The only advice I can really give you at this stage is to check to see what your wireless access point is logging whenever you try to connect (if it has a "debug" or "verbose" option, turn it on). It may provide you with some clues.

EDIT: I have assumed that you actually can't physically connect to the network at all - keep in mind that "not on the network" and "on the network but can't download teh interwebz" are two different things. If my assumption is incorrect, and your dodgy machine is on the network but can't access 4chan, it's likely an IP address assignment issue.

firewall... turn it off...

if you're connecting with the FW off it's because you didn't pay attention during network detection and have flubbed it...
