Get a HD/DVD recorder. I unplugged my VCR about 2-3 years ago and replaced it with one of these

Works like a charm.

I have an LG DVD recorder that has a HDD in it. It does exactly what you're expecting.

If you're at all interested, I'll tell you what the model number is once I get home. But that will only be at around 20:00 or so.

Yeah, I got me one of those too. 320GB HDD. Record TV straight to HDD or DVD, though I've not yet done so to DVD. Crazy thing is, blank DVDs are cheaper than VHS tapes!

My LG DVD recorder has a VHS as well, but no hard drive. Can record live or DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
