Re: Windows 8 Release
This might be just me but does anyone else feel that Windows 8 is the perfect integration of what the cloud should be like? Constant and instant flow of data and information? Because while its a gaming platform to me suddenly I find myself hitting those news, weather and finance tabs just to see whats happening today.
Thing I miss though is Office pinning my most used files for quick access.

is it ok for me to be mentally punching you in the chops right now?StarBound wrote: I find myself hitting those news, weather and finance tabs just to see whats happening today.
because you said "cloud" then referred to internets services whilst also insinuating that you have never been able to access weather or news sites until now...

Re: Windows 8 Release
I had some interaction with Windows 8 at the display in Clearwater. Granted, it was a brief meeting, but I am liking it more and more. I was especially impressed with the fluidity across all platforms and hardware configurations.
More and more it seems my first tablet will be MS based.

It might change your view on the MS made tablet and wait for a HTC/Samsung/Nokia version instead. I am keen for a x86 version myself...

Re: Windows 8 Release
Does windows 8 have some sort of loader optimizer? because windows boots in 1 second now, down from 4. I get into my desktop after 7 seconds from hitting the power button.

Re: Windows 8 Release
Thanks man. Yeah I have read mixed reviews of the Surface, I meant that the tablet should be running Win 8. At the Clearwater display they had an Asus, Samsung and I think and Acer one. They all looked awesome.Anakha56 wrote:@GW read/watch this: http://pocketnow.com/2012/11/02/surface ... -microsoft

Also, DOS may not be classified as a Windows OS.StarBound wrote:I was gonna say DOS booted faster but now I am doubting ithamin_aus wrote:Hey 7, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish loading...

Re: Windows 8 Release
Ok here is my views on Windows 8 after a week of usage. I like the standard windows. I spend 99% of my time on the desktop so the new look only has a negative impact in the sense that I lost my pinned start menu with pinned files that I use often.
For gaming... Windows 8 has some issues. The most noticeable is Borderlands 2 has a good deal of slow downs with physx enabled that was priorly not there. On the flip side Guild wars 2 is running smoother. GFWL is gone which also means I can't launch those games.
So gaming perspective, mostly the same but avoid until the issues has been resolved.

Re: Windows 8 Release
I'm more convinced now than before that Windows 8 is not ready for release. I'm typing this while one of my game launchers is outlined over my top screen. Whatever they changed during the compatibility phase has affected performance and functionality. Again its a 50/50, improvements in some areas and decreased in others. I'm currently sitting at the point where these annoyances are disruptive to me.

Hay guise mah game wont load.
These disturbances are disruptive to me.
Should have thought of that before you rushed out and got the latest version of an OS family that has notoriously buggy RTMs

Hahahahaha, from "This might be just me but does anyone else feel that Windows 8 is the perfect integration of what the cloud should be like?" to "I'm more convinced now than before that Windows 8 is not ready for release" in 13 days. LOL!

What can I say? The more you use something the more you realise what's wrong with it. ...yet

Also, the main UI restricts users to a single window, so the product ought to be renamed "Microsoft Window."

It's not transparent so might was well call it Microsoft Brickwall... now I know why they call it surface...rustypup wrote:useit wrote:One of the worst aspects of Windows 8 for power users is that the product's very name has become a misnomer. Bleh. I maximise all my screens anyway and use Alt-Tab. No biggie.
