IGN Review, 9.6. Seems game will be fun and good but its rpg elements have been dumbed down even more than the first one. Still looking forward to it.

IGN doesn't have any credibility left for me. Somewhere someone is paying them to give out these scores.

Here's an explanation from Evil Chris on how it works:
Posted 12/03/09 23:53 (GMT) by Chris Priestly

Ok some details for you.

1 - Yes, there are 2 game discs for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions, both the Collector's and standard editions.

2 - There is a 3rd disc with the Collector's Edition. This is a movie DvD containing making of and other bonus information.

3 - The PC version is a standard install. You install the information from both discs and then play with 1 disc in the drive. No swapping.

4 - The Xbox 360 does not have an install and does require disc swapping during play.

5 - Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. 1 swap and then done.

6 - Why 2 discs? Answer: Because you cannot fit this much awesome on one disc.

Hope this helps.

2 discs explained

The DVD standard supports up to 20 Gigs Dual layer double density.

And Besides, the Xbox has an HD or BLueray Drive, doesn't it?

DVD can hold up to 9.4gb on dual layer discs. As for double density isnt that HD-DVD? It died about 2 years ago and blue ray got the official successor title to dvd. Xbox 360 has a standard dvd drive, an external hd-dvd drive if you still can find them and I have heard about an blue ray drive for the system but I havent seen it yet.

You are confusing ps3 and xbox 360. PS3 has a blueray drive, not xbox 360.

Mass Effect 2 Review

Mass Effect 2 is such a big game that, to be honest, it’s hard to know where to begin. There’s so much new content and so many new features that it can all be a bit overwhelming at times, especially if you’re trying to pitch a review and can’t be sure how much of the first game people have played or still remember. Be warned then that, if you haven't already done so, you might want to play Mass Effect 1 before venturing into the second game.

In brief then, Mass Effect 2 starts almost immediately after the close of the first game, cutting straight to the action and zooming in on Commander Shepherd as his ship dodges enemy fire.

Saviour of the Galaxy and the first human to be inducted as a secret agent for the Galactic Council, Shepherd is an iconic hero in the Mass Effect universe thanks to his defeat of the Reapers and the Geth in the first game. Intelligent machines that sit beyond the edges of the galaxy and which cull all organic life once every few million years, it took all the might of the military to defeat just one Reaper last time and now Shepherd is searching for a way to defeat the rest of the race before they return in force.

Seven Samurai in space: Ars reviews Mass Effect 2
By Ben Kuchera | Last updated January 26, 2010 2:00 AM

Mass Effect made waves in the world of eastern-style RPGs, but the game had some major flaws that dulled the experience. On the 360, the vehicle sections where you drove your land-based transport were often frustrating due to unwieldy controls. You spent way too much time in elevators as the game loaded the next section. Dealing with your inventory could be a nightmare. The PC version of the game addressed many of these issues, but Bioware certainly knew where it could go to make the game better for the much-anticipated sequel.

Our first playing session with Mass Effect 2 lasted four hours. The next? Seven hours. After finishing the first game literally 24 hours before playing the sequel, the differences between the two releases could not have been clearer. Many of the RPG elements of the first game have been removed. The inventory issue has been fixed the simplest way; now, there is no inventory.

Just to let everyone know. According to Zaps and Taketwo the CE is delayed till monday, normal edition is fine. BT games says if you are picking up from the brooklyn store it will definitly be there friday afternoon, I assume this applies to all their Gauteng stores.

Hi Stefan

I see you are wanting to collect from Brooklyn.

This store will definitely have the collectors edition by Friday Afternoon.

Thank you

Michelle

The game wont need online activation? And as for the CE is the extra artbook and stuff worth the price premium or will a standard edition do?

It uses the same system as dao and the system, only disc but online authorization needed for dlc items. Whether the ce is worth depends on the individual, for me it is but I am a BW fan boy.

Ok I will admit I am impressed so far. The game is slightly better than the first and has a more tactical feel to it.

I had to reinstall two times. The first time I kept me 2 has stopped working. Apparently if you have two opticals drives active when installing it borks the install. But after the reinstall every thing is fine. Game is excellent , most things have been improved. But I still hate the mineral gathering, the planet scanning is very tedious.
