Heya, welcome back :).

I have never used the task manager, will try it out. I reckon your biggest saving is the killing of 3G. Your phone is not always switching between 3G, HSDPA and GPRS. Will try that out...

At work it wont help much since I am running off my work WIFI and have a SIP client going so thats where I am losing a lot of battery, but over the weekend lets see how it goes :).

another few things to note with how i use the phone:

1. I enabled power saving at 70%
2. I try keep wifi off when I dont need it. I think Wifi searching will chow a lot of battery power.

Also, I have not seen the task manager on the HTC. It might be a samsung thing on the S2. Not sure if you can get an app for it as it came standard with my phone.

Stu I take it you have not jailbroken your devices?

@novio you have my boss and myself really loving those battery figures . Mine are not so impressive, I typically get +- 28 hours. Will try your APN off idea, its something I used to use with the Desire and then stopped for some reason unknown to me...

Haven't seen the need to. They have done everything I require without jailbreaking. The moment I can't perform an essential task on an unjailbroken device I will start considering it.

Very impressive, I got my Desire HD on Friday and I'm averaging 8 hours life :P

But that's due to me flashing the kek out of it... trying to find a ROM I like to use and then fidling no-end.

We were at a braai on friday. Breakdown of phones:
3 Android devices
3 iPhones
4 BBs

Despite recent issues, BBs still have majority. Among my friends at least.

Just have a personal story to add into this thread since everyone is here...

Last week I came back onto day shift after 2 and half months of night shift and was walking around the production line while using the Galaxy S2 to interact with my helpdesk when I had 2 different people in quick succession ask "Is that the Samsung Galaxy S2? Its such an amazing phone!". Now when I walked around with the iPhone all I got was "Cool, what phone is that?".

Cool story, bro!

Well, those "recent issues" were really the first major issues that have affected BB users in, like, forever, so it's probably forgiveable. Personally, I reckon in the SA market that BB is still a smart choice for a lot of people. I had a friend ask me yesterday if I think he should upgrade to an iPhone or Android device and, after speaking to him about his needs, I said no. For his circumstances, I feel that his BB is honestly the best option. It's not going away any time soon.

I don't know if I agree with that, though. The Desire was fast. Fast enough to do anything I ever needed it to do. I never had any problems with that phone.

Nope, nothing like that here. Both my iPad and iPhone are rock solid.

After using the iPhone 4 for 6 months, and now the Desire HD. It's a world of difference... even on a stock HTC ROM, and it is faster at a few things than the iPhone. Both have their pro's and cons though

I never had spontaneous closes on full release iOS's 5 beta 1-7 then Goldmaster i had various apps that just closed without warning... but thats to be expected of a beta release.

I'll be joining the android community (hopefully, saving like a mad man) with the Asus transformer 2 (going to replace my laptop with it, its better suited to my needs).

I like ios for my phone, but I find android preferable now.

It wasn't exactly slow for general use, but try some gaming on your iPhone 4 like Rage HD or something. The Desire wouldn't cope with that type of game.

Being a user of both I can think of many things my GS2 can do that my iPhone 4 can't, but not the other way around. :P

There is no "better" IMO, it's all about your personal wants and needs.

Yep, agreed :)

I don't do much gaming on this phone anyway, so I don't care for that :)

Really? NO better? "matter of opinion"? Did someone come through here and castrate every male except me? I may be over-reacting but this is starting to sound like a damn commune full of tree hugging spineless hippies.

I for one will not go down that route.

MY PHONE IS THE BEST BECAUSE IT IS PRETTIER THAN THE REST AND ALSO IT IS FAST. ALSO NO LAG. ALSO IT HAS A SONY BRAVIA ENGINE. ALSO WE SHALL NEVER MENTION WIFI.
