some games will go back to older shaders like riddick and hl2. shader 2 will give optimal performance and 1.x doesnt look that gr8. I suppose it all depends on the game and the range of hardware it supports. for instance if a game sez it supports gf4 mx 440 upwards it will beable to use lower shader...

i reckon it will b fine 4 da next two years and as with most older technology it will gradually be phased out. Even if u do get a 6800ultra, its shader model 3 performance is not exactly wonderful. THe x850xtpe is a better buy. Im running a 6600 Diamond Edition. Im more than happy with its perfomanc...

x850 doesnt not even have shader 3 so it wont take any hit at all

only the ati x1xx series have shader 3. and of course geforce 6 and 7 series

umm. 128 mg 6600 vanilla is better than 256mg 6600 LE.
Teh 6600 vanilla goes for R1000 too
the 6600 LE will stuggle wif later games coz its only got 4 pixel pipes.

DO NOT GET A 512 MB 6200A (waste of money)
Do not be fooled by the mass of memory, that card will never use more than 128mb.

it wont be a huge improvement over ur current card. Buy the 6600GT

the fx range below the 5900 sux major @$$ for new games. They dont have true DX9 support and have weak shader units.

those temps are high but nothing to be worried about.
My temps have gone to 72 Degrees before with no throttleing or anything

Look theres not much ur currrent CPU cant handle.
and if u not upgrading ur graphics card too u wont see a huge increase in performance unless u buy an ultra high end CPU like an Athlon FX or a P4 EE

a good bang for buck CPU is an amd athlon 64 3500+ or if u into overclocking u could quite easily get ur CPU to 3Ghz maybe even 3.4

If u wanna stay with intel get the p4 630 or 640 (3Ghz and 3.2Ghz) They overclock nicely
