I highly recommend any pinnacle software; its by far superior to anything else in terms of user friendliness. although v10 and 11 are excellent, i prefer v9. I use the dazzle dc90 usb interface which has never given me any problems. However i think that only v11 works with vista (if ur using vista)....

I think you need to take it back to basics. If you can, get rid of the graphics card for now and take out anything else you dont need.
