After wacthing our boys yesterday, Im left with a really bad taste in my mouth
First of all 'Team Selection'
How can you leave out a young talented player that has just proved his worth in the last match (AB de Villiers) He scored over 200 runs at a really good rate for a test match, I reckon he should have been in the place of Adam Bacher, Who whenever he comes into the side looks very ordanary
Second, Whats with this justing kemp, He might be good a domestic levels but i just dont think he makes the cut at international Level. Leave out the exrta all round and put in a specailist bowler
Andre Nel, Man im glad this kid is back in the side perfect 3rd Seam bowler (NUFF SAID)
And our beloved captian... This 'Boy' Doesnt have what it takes at this level 'YET':!: And is cracking under the pressurre ... Drop him for a couple of games untill he regains his form, Give Kallis or Boucher or even Pollock captaincy... Dont get me wrong smith is the most talneted player we got, We just made the common mistake again by taking a promising player and chucking him in the deep side with his hands tide to his back...
Lastly Selectors
There must be something very wrong on thier side to be so consitantly inconsitant... We need to take a good hard look at the state of SA cricket.
I firmly believe we are still the best team in world with the most problems in thier team...
Weve got the talent and the poeple to get this ball rolling in the right direction again, There is just to much behing the cricket
I would really like to hear your views on this

Mostly I agree. I can't understand Bacher's inclusion, no disrespect to him. All the selectors always say, "we must build for the World Cup" etc. etc, so then why pick a bloke who is already 30 odd?? Rather pick the youngster.
Secondly, unless Kallis starts bowling a lot more, we will always have to pick another all rounder. You can't drop him for an out and out bowler because then we will be a batter short, unless you really feel happy about relying on Pollock and Boje to score in every game. Kemp is playing the role Klusener always used to.
Finally, there is just no way we are the best team in the world, we aren't even in the top 3. Sorry.

first off after watching all our wickets tumble i went and played on my pc. AB might have done well in the test series but maybe he isnt a one day player, but you never know till you find out and thats what the selectors have done with most of yesterdays side they wanted to see if the new guys could perform which they didnt, so for the next team we could see a all new round up. thats where i feel the problem is our team changes so much tha no-one has time to settle and build themselves up and get comfortable playing thier game. kemp well he just needs to work on his international game and how do you do that? by playing international matches. Adam Bacher the same applies to him give him the time to build his game and wham he could be the next Kallis. i would rather see an all-rounder team than a team of specialist's why? think about it our top order collapsed yesterday and who brought our fat out from the fires? the middle and tail order. just my 2c.
Oh and Smith well i will agree with you there he could have made one hell of a captain and batsmen if he was left to mature his game without the weight of captincy at such a young start, but hey why cry over spilt milk? its not like your going to get it back in the bottle again.

No, We need to make sure the our frontline batsman do thier job(Thats why they are there in the first place)
Justin kemp was 3rd change bowler yeterday(Or was supposed to be(But the weather changed the tactics a bit) And he is nothing more than a meduim pacer and in one day cricket thats a HUGE gamle, Meduim bowler are easier to hit than any other bowler in cricket(Unleass he gets huge swing)

Definitley have the potential, no arguments there, it's just that we are underperforming. And unfortunately for us, top teams don't underperform. Look at the damn aussie team (may they rot in the fires of hell), if they lose a game, they look shocked. If we lose a game, it's almost like, "oh well, what's for supper?"DEeRaY wrote:Weve got the players.....
Do you really think were as bad as 175/9 against enland
We have a really good seam attack
We have 3 of the top batsman in the world
We might not be the best right now, But the potential is there...
Keep in mind that this is a young team. We cant always be one of the best. Every team in World Cricket goes through slumps, We have class players and will bounce back. Id rather us eat humble pie now rather than later when we play Australia. Kallis is regarded as the best Batsman in the world, Gibbs can turn any stadium on fire and Smith can score back to back double hundreds. Did you people hear that England is only the second team to beat us in a
home test series since re-admission.
home test series since re-admission.
The aussie team is very consistant, They have very good players too, But i dont rate them much better than us... Probably the only diffrence is harmony in thier sqaud..
Look SA is a great team, And i dont rate ENG stronger than us, Everytime we lost it was because we fell apart
And your right, Good teams dont fall apart, We are a good team, So there must be somthing else wrong
We have the foundation for it.....

I agree completly, but we should at least still be #2 in the worldDaz wrote:Keep in mind that this is a young team. We cant always be one of the best. Every team in World Cricket goes through slumps, We have class players and will bounce back.

Thats the essence of the Aussy success in most of their sports. Its all about attitude and believing that you are the only one out there able to accomplish the task. You have to applaude them for that. (In my case I'll just keep on hating them for linear reasons.)altron wrote:Definitley have the potential, no arguments there, it's just that we are underperforming. Compared to the aussy approach as stated above, it truly looks like we have only have supper on our minds after a defeat. Well said, altron.

Every team goes thru a slump, and that's exactly what SA is going thru. The selectors are trying to rebuild the team, but it's at a bad time as all the players are in bad form at international level.
I feel that AB and Klusener should've been in the side on Sunday except Prince and Kemp. Yes, they did ok, but Klusener and AB are in better form the Kemp and Prince.
Apparently AB is in todays match, so let's hold thumbs he can hold is own in One days too.

I think AB is actually better suited to one day game anyhow. Like Gibbs he likes to play his shots. I hope he does well today.
I must agree with one of the previous statements and that is if we are in the process of rebuilding why are we introducing 30 years olds (Ok Bacher has played a few games before) into the squad. We should be looking at 24 to 25 year old guys maximum.
The Australians (How I loathe them) seems to add a new face only when necessary and only 1 at a time. The rest of the team is still performing well so the new guy gets a chance to play himself in. He also starts with a lot of confidence because there is less pressure on him when the rest of the team is still performing well. And when last did you see the Australians go through a slump?????

The Aussies did go thru a "slump" (if you can call it that) a few years back. But they were also going thru a rebuilding phase. A few of the oldies had been booted out of the squad so the n00bs had to shoulder the pressure.
Gibbs is probably out with a groin strain today, so Bacher gets another chance (All cheer at once! ).
