Matrix Reloaded is quite bad in places

Post by VeX »

Matrix Reloaded was cool, expected much more though... It lacked that one thing that the first movie had...

You could see that the textures for Neos´ leather coat and the agents clothes were actually quite "cheap", you could also see the
CG when he flies into the clouds, and lets not be blind, his face was quite crappy, morpheuses face as well for that matter, you know, when Neo saves his bottom...

Another thing, how can a Pig car keep up with a Ducatti 996, what the hell, I know its not meant to be taken literally, but come on, this is the matrix. Plus it was Trinity riding that bike.
I also felt that there was some bad acting on Morpheus´s part, when he address´s Xian, he seemed false. He always semmed so hardcore in the prequel...

Why is it that sequals always fail to satisfy people expectations?

The only sequal which I thought was really good was Blade II, thats a duel I´d dig to see, Neo vs Blade eh, what you think?

Anyways, can´t wait for Revolution in November.

Only improvement...

i agree with then morpheus speech in zeon it was fake but tht will be as far as i go.

the matrix was the best sequal eva loved the action, the twist and the cliffhanger ending and i can´t wait for Revolutions.

and Blade 2 PLLLEASE i´ll rather sit thru Rocky 6.

[ Edited by skunkymunky On Date
June 02, 2003 ]

I think Matrix Reloaded was a kick-bottom movie. The fight scenes were mind blowing, way better than the first movie. I really enjoyed the long battle between Neo and Smith...aaaamazing! I agree that their was certain parts in the movie that wasn´t that briliant, but hey, overall I´d say this was one the best movies of the year.

It´s the Star Wars debate all over again. If you went to see the movie with no expectations of what it should have been, in your own mind - it was fun. If you did, it could have been the most disappointing sequel ever.

I loved it though, cause I had no ideas of what it should be about... I just like it for what it is.

Very good point OnlyOne

Sequels can never reach the same heights as the first. Everyone will have their own personal ideas and expectations for sequals but the directors/writers cannot cater for everyone. They produce the matrix world/ epic storyline as they see it.

Also the greater the interest and hype surrounding a movie, the more intense the critical dissection of the movie. ( It is always easier to find mistakes and hark on them)

My 2 cents

The Lord of The Rings is great so far, even though it is a sequel. The second Lord of The Rings was better than the first, so not all sequels are the same.

Archie, Lord of the Rings was adapted from existing material. If you read the books, you knew what to expect from the movie. Not so with The Matrix or Star Wars.

Actually Onlyone the star wars movies were adapted from a "book" (more like comic series) and I would have thought you would have known this.

btw the LOTR second movie wasn´t as good as the first either in my opinion.

Dude, the only "book" Star Wars was adapted from was the rough outline George Lucas wrote before filming A New Hope. Yes he took ideas from other films and mediums, but its not a direct adaptation from any existing book.
As I remember there was a comic series out at the time that told the whole story from episode 1 right through to the end. Of course I was very young at the time so it could have been after the release of the movies series but, then why would he (George Lucas) try to do a prequel series now after the initial releases if there was never any additional material on which to base these movies. I think it was all written and he presented the idea to the producers but they accepted only the bit from the middle onwards and thats why now that he has his own money he can do a prequel series.

You have however planted a seed of doubt since my memory of it all is not very clear.

No, the movies aren´t based on the comics - the comics are based on the movies. You have things the wrong way around. Those comics are Expanded Universe - written after the movie(s) came out, some of it may be based on Lucas´ initial ideas for 1,2,3 etc. but I don´t think they are very accurate. It would be interesting to compare them now.

It´s also possible that the comics you refer to actually take place before episode 1,2,3... the EU is very very large.

Lucas did have the whole outline written and decided to go with 4,5 and 6 for budgetory reasons. He couldn´t do 1, 2 and 3 like he wanted to in the 70´s and 80´s, since it called for massive robot armies, huge cities and special effects that just weren´t possible then.

There weren´t many gunfights in Reloaded, I actually liked the lobby scene in the first movie... Neo doesn´t even touch a gun in this one...
