Just woundering what's a good one this one looks intresting. All I want to do it network two PC's using a crossover cable. two PC's a P3 awith this card (or whtever card) and my PC with onboard gigabyte lan. I'v networked before with my PC and another one with VIA something card and it worked OK. I bought a C-net card for another PC that I was fixing up and it was such Junk (well what did I expect at R60). So my basic Question is. Is this card Ok for lan gamming,Sharing printers and files and internet or is it going to be slow

Edit: or maby something like this

http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/produc ... ts_id=1434

But will it work on the old P3

That card looks fine to me. But the price!!!

Why would you wanna waste so much cash on a network card? You can get a perfectly good one for R100 new I'm sure, at least I can.

ok then so i will go for the more expensive one. as for the price I have learned that if you buy something cheap it won't work like you want it toI will rather spend R230 and Know it will be good quality than spend R100 and get a thing that gives me endless trouble 8)

Dude,... R230 for a network card is crazy...

We have 3com network cards in our pc atm , but all the cards we buy otherwise cost R70 or less now , and they basically all still work...

My brother just got a good deal to exchange our cheaper ones for 3com ones...

Yess, but that has Fibre Optic cabling and PCIx capability...

The one for R240 you posted is only 10/100mbps , the cheaper one at least had 1000mbps as well...

I've sold many of these 'junk' C-Net LAN adapters, and you know what? Every single one is still working (perfectly I might add.)

Ok Ok maby junk was the wrong word for them. it's just after two modems and the network card I am not very happy. The network card I bought is still working as far as I know. it's just after the two modems not working properly and after getting the network card I realy battled to install the drivers and it was the same for the modems. so junk was the first word that came to mind

That's okay... experience with a particular brand/model of hardware does tend to differ from person to person.
