I have no idea where to post this, so Im just going to post it here. Im curious to know who s fitter Formula 1 drivers or rugby players? My friend says that rugby players are fitter and I say otherwise the thing is I need facts to back it up anyone got any of these? Thankx for the help.

JUSTICE, n A commodity which is a more or less adulterated condition the State sells to the citizen as a reward for his allegiance, taxes and personal service.
i don't think you can compare them really.
It's a different kind of fitness, ones mainly aerobic and the other mainly anaerobic.
I would imagine that the F1 drivers are probably mentally fitter as they're required to concentrate 100% for 2 hours without break.
Suffice to say at the top of their sports both are exceedingly fit.
So i haven't answered your question

There are 10 types of people in this world.
Those who understand binary and those who do not.

I agree that you can't really compare them.
In actually strength I think rugby players would be stronger though.
The question is a bit of a generalisation though since you might have a few rugby players who don't workout a lot etc.. and then you might have a few F1 drivers who workout really hard so..

It's like comparing boxers and weight lifters. Both have tremendous strength but they are trained to only use it in the manner more suitable to their sport. a Boxer would more than likely fail to lift a truck and a weight lifter would fail to knock out a boxer.
Just when I got the hang of life they changed the rules.
Well I play rugby and man that sport makes you much fitter than any other sport I play.
I have never tried formula 1 racing so I can't really tell.

I am a guy so please people stop sending me these shady pm's and start playing computer games or bodybuilding. Forums aren't a good place to get chicks the gym is...
The fittest guy is probably a rugby player but if you take the all the rugby players and all the formula 1 players I guess the formula 1 races are fitter.WiKiD wrote:F1 dudes really are fit!!

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.
lol.
Let me tell you becuase I know for a fact. A soccer player + a rugby is not as fit as a formula 1 driver. Formula 1 drivers are some of the fitest athletes in the world, known fact, no argument. When you say you cant compare them, well you cant really but then again they are both athletes. One is built for strength and the other for endurance. Then you get mental and physical fitness.
A contruction worker comes home at night is tired from working physically all day but a person sitting behind a desk doing something like custom relations can be more tired after work because of mental stress. After all, its all in the mind. Formula 1 drivers can loose up to 3 kgs in sweat alone, in one race. And they also haveto have strength. Especially Their neck. A F1 car can generate up 4 G's under braking, that means his head weighs 4 times more every time he breaks hard. Then the more tired your body gets the less you can concentrate and you can imagine how high concentration levels haveto in that sport where split second decisions and reactions can cost you the race. Its one of the most demanding sports in the world, physically and mentally.
Thats my take, I train in the gym 5 times a week and have lots of friends that play rugby, 2 of my dads friends are/were in car racing. Racing drivers are in a totally different league when it comes 2 fitness.

Ok, let's see - I haven't played rugby for the last 2 years, retired from the sport. I am close to 39.Those props arn't supreme athletes
I can still play 7 to 9 games of very hard squash. I can benchpress 120kg. Leg press 450+, and hack-squad around 210kg's. I played prop (no1) for 6-7 years, 18years flank.
My neck is around 46cm in circumference, at my peak, I could lift opposition prop up in air with my neck. I could do a 100m in around 11.9 seconds, even 3 years ago. Played a 90min rugby game, and I was dead afterwards.
Now, I am doing racing sim. With an ECCI6000 steering wheel, which is as close to the real thing as possible. Steering and pedal response much stronger than F1 car.
So yeah, after 2-3 hours of non-stop sim racing, only thing that is stiff is my bottom.
Mental fitness, I would agree, I think F1 is much more taxing on the brain. Physically, well, I don't think you can even compare. Tiza, just so you know, those props are extremely strong, and fit.
They scrum for a big part of the game, makes on ave 20-30 tackles per game, not even to mention lifting those locks in the lineouts. No, Victor Matfield can't jump to save his life, he gets lifted by the props.
The last jumping lock we had was Frik du Preez.
So, before making statements like these, go play a game on prop yourself. Afterwards I will help you, will probably need a block-and-tackle to pull your head from your backside.
But yeah, going slightly off-topic, you cannot even begin to compare the different types of power/strengths needed for individual muscle groups to be developed in these 2 vastly different sports, but overall, physically, professional rugby players will be much stronger per kg bodyweight, and quite a bit fitter overall, again physically, than motorracing drivers, who will need specialist physical training to develope those muscles applicable to racing.
Only my view though, treat is as such.

dude i dont wanna step on your toes(because u r bigger than me) but i am a pretty good squash player, i am very fit(I have just finished my final fitness evaluation for the year yay!!!) and i dont think i could play 9 games of squash in a row??? unless it was against someone weaker. in which case it would not be hard squash. (if u wanna know what a hard rally is like i have an exercise for u!!!!!)I can still play 7 to 9 games of very hard squash.
u honestly think this is the same as racing a formula one car??? u gotta be kidding, how many g's did u pull in it? how hot was it when u were racing? how much serious attention were u paying? was your life at risk? comeon u cant rate a sport by playing a simulator????Now, I am doing racing sim. honestly i think formula one drivers overall are fitter, someone quoted stats earlier so not gonna repeat them, but i also think it is alot harder because of the smaller margin of error. Lives are at risk, so mentally it is definitely a harder sport, physically i think it is very different, and certain rugby players are exceptionally fit, however i agree with certain posts that on the average i would put formula one drivers as fitter than rugby players. Def not stronger, but fitter
