It starts June 11th.

In other news Bandai also announced they will be streaming recent and new releases, both True Tears and Shigofumi has been mentioned.

Free-to-view, officially subbed.

That makes it thus two studios, Gonzo and Bandai, to dare do this.

Things are changing, for the better.

Japan's democrats are proposing to severely censor and outright ban "portrayals of minority age females" in eroge / anime / manga / novels as well as harshly filter their web content.

Will see what happens with this... Should have done so long ago imo...

And in other news -
Online streaming site Gyao has announced that they’ll no longer have online streaming for Kanokon from ep 7 onwards because it’s getting too extreme. Another streaming site Biglobe has also announced that they will no longer be offering free streaming of Kanokon and will start charging for it. All this probably has something do with how Kanokon was the no.1 most popular anime on Gyao among elementary school students both males and females for the past weeks…
This show airs 10am Saturday morning in Japan btw...

ZOMG, theres a dent in my action figure!!! I WANT A REFUND!!!

HmmZ, I havent started watching Kanokon yet, but from what I can gather, its a rather ecchi extreme series? Airing at that time in Japan would make it possible for anyone to view it :P

It's rubbish, probably good sex-ed for 10 year olds though.

Like I said, Japan's non-existant child-protection laws, are long overdue.

That Kanu figurine is really awesome though I can't have one of those. People would start sh*tting bricks.

Yeah me too ZeroS, I can't get myself to buy these. Nothing againt people who collect, please don't take me wrong, it's just not for me, not at my age, I'm not a teenager anymore.

However I do look at them, it's kinda hard not to when reading otaku news sites several times a week and there's a number of them I do pay attention to. Like this, Kanu's been done many times but imo this is her best outfit yet.

If I were to actually buy something like this then it would have to be really detailed and much larger.

Adding to that, I'd prefer something less provocative. Kanu is one of the more favored female character profiles in my books not solely because of the physical beauty but more so the profile and personality of her character.
Very few characters tend to stand out from generic cardboard cutouts found so often in anime and I believe each person will find different characters appealing, so characters like Kanu, Revy, etc. are those that tend to stand out for me.

Their definition of harmful information is “strikingly sexually stimulating information”, information promoting extreme cruelty, promoting suicide and promoting crime; a set of criteria which certainly leaves all bases covered.
Guys are saying it will never happen. Just because one party proposed it in cabinet does not mean it will be imposed so.

Most anime already passed ok for TV censorship panels believe it or not. Elfen and simmilar anime would not actually have that big a problem. It aired on AT-X. an adult cable channel.

Their biggest concern would be "eroge" (Hentai games), internet and visual novels. For example, taken Elfen Lied anime since it's mentioned already - a four year old girl stripped naked and chained to a wall being shot with cannon balls so as to test her threshold. Not a pretty picture by any means but at least viewers were not shown the actual impact. In contrast the uncensored manga was not so kind, actually showing a full-facial impact. And lets rather not mention the Elfen manga's other child abuse scenes.

Thus the obvious problem. As far as sexual content is concerned crap like Kodomo no Jikan would most probably be in trouble. And that would be ideal imo.

ADV joined Gonzo and Bandai by offering the dubbed Welcome To The NHK on Crunchyroll. Their future releases not yet disclosed but hell this free-to-view anime thing is spreading like wildfire now.

Every 5 minutes it lags to buffer so happy watching from sunny SA though...

Most perverts I know are waiting for the DVDs (to ripped and subbed.) The DVDs are supposed to be uncut where as the TV episodes were edited.

Pitty about the SD :(
I would have liked some nice HD releases

I wonder who is going to pick up Ikkitousen GG? :D
Ayako did the first season (Im not too srue) and I know they did at least one of the HotSpring specials...

Wonder if they will do GG as well? :D
They seem to be rather busy as they are taking their sweet time to releases right now...but IMO their releases are worth the wait 8)

I think Chihiro might jump on GG and quickly sub it :P

http://www.fansubwiki.com/Who_Subs_What:_SUMMER_2008

I doubt Ayako will sub it, they were told to stop doing Dragon Destiny and remove it from their site last time. They completed it though, it's on one of their IRC bots.

Anyways I don't care about Ayako anymore. In fact I try to avoid them. They release too slow.

And yes, Im addicted to HDTV and try to get most shows in HD but that can't always be done. My fansubs nowadays looks better than my DVD's, pft.

I'm busy with Ikki's manga and it's damn good. Check it out when you have time.

Ahh, thats rathe useful.
Wonder how acurate it is? I dont think too accurate?

Yeh, Ayako do release really slowly now :(
They werent that bad with some of their releases earlier this year/end of last year :D
But then they had BakaWolf and m33w colabarating with them on some of thoes projects.

LOL @ your fansubs looking better than your DVDs :D :P
HmmZ, if the Ikki manga is really that good then ill check it out...
Hows the ecchi compared to the anime? The same? Better? Less :( ?

More ecchi and the girls actually have unique techniques unlike the anime which feels like a free-for-all brawl. Sonsaku seems much, much stronger compared to the anime too. Like half of Dragon Destiny I didn't even know she was gonna be in the show.

Manga's better, as usual.

The wiki is accurate, fansubbers themselves update it. Though of course some groups decide to pick up a show late like Ani-Kraze with Vampire Knight for example so it would depend on how early you choose to download your anime.

Myself, I don't mind jumping right in but I won't download anything without reading comments on it first.

If you want to stay up to date with the fansub world then regularly browse AnimeSuki forums.

This is a noob Chinese .rmvb RAW though. Decent RAW's should be hitting TS right about now...
AT-X is apparently not censoring it...

Finished with the first 12 volumes of Ikki Tousen. I think there's one more to go, awaiting scans. Not too bad. Though it's very diffirent from the anime a lot of stuff's just about the same. There's a lot of swearing and ecchi, probably the most I ever saw short of doijin's. Don't let your mom's catch you with it. The first few volumes are rated 16 but the rest are rated 18, as per the official Battle Vixens scans, not fan work.

Great Guardians has nothing to do with the manga btw. I see Shinsen got a RAW out so I wonder if they'll be subbing it? Still waiting for a decent group to sub it....

Anyways to come back to an earlier topic -
The recent moves to strengthen laws against pornography involving underage participants opted to consider what to do about 2D loli separately, and the Diet has now decided what to do about this – it will ignore the matter for three years, and then decide how (if) to reform the law based on the results of an investigation. This might be considered a skilful dodge of the whole messy issue.

It will do the same regarding attempting to force censorship measures targeting pornography featuring underage participants on ISPs, citing the need for technical progress in the area.

The other measures are set to become law, with “simple possession” for the purpose of “satisfying sexual curiosity” receiving a fine of no more than ¥1,000,000 or imprisonment of not more than one year, and with much harsher punishments for commercial dealing and distribution.

A common reaction on 2ch seems to be to interpret this as a simple countdown to a rigged investigation which will recommend a ban, but I feel compelled to offer a different interpretation – this seems to be more of a relatively graceful cop out for the politicians involved, to get out of having to offer objections to a “think of the children” law.

Whilst it may be that attitudes in Japan towards lolicon related issues are much more relaxed and reasonable than elsewhere, it would still not look good for a politician to come out and argue for an exemption in the midst of the current theatre. In that case, leaving the matter to some anonymous committee’s verdict three years hence, which can be discretely accepted or ignored, would be the most politically feasible way of demurring on a ban.

Still, vigilance and opposition is required if such a law is not to illiberally erode freedom of expression.
/ Link not safe for work. Unless you like H with you news.

And in other news AnimeSuki received a cease-and-desist order from Kadokawa USA to take down 11 anime titles. This was odd because none of them were licensed. Turned out they, together with other titles, were hosted on Japan's commercial BitTorrent tracker, BitTorrent DNA, by Kadokawa Shoten. For those who don't know, file-sharing in Japan is only illegal if shared outside of state. Yes, they can legally rip their shows and share it locally. TV shows / anime in general though, obviously it does not apply to software. This served as a trial run. Kadokawa Shoten's also expected to partner with YouTube to host various free-to-view shows, sharing only income generated by ads.
