Dear Dr Jung

Post by jee »

Dear Dr Jung
I have been so blessed in my life. Great parents, great wife and kids, great job, and great education.

When I finally retired, I could hardly wait to spend time enjoying my favourite pastime -- bass fishing. I got my own little fishing boat and tried to get my wife to join me, but she just never liked fishing. Finally, one day at the Bait & Tackle Shop, I got to talking to Sam the shop owner who it turned out loves bass fishing as much as I do. We quickly became fishing buddies. As I said the wife doesn't care about fishing; she not only refuses to join us she always complains that I spend too much time fishing.

A few weeks ago Sam and I had the best fishing trip ever. Not only did I catch the most beautiful bass you've ever seen, only a few minutes later Sam must have caught his twin brother! So I took a picture of Sam holding up the two nice bass that we caught and showed the picture to the wife hoping that maybe she'd get interested. Instead she says she doesn't want me to go fishing at all anymore! And she wants me to sell the boat! I think she just doesn't like to see me enjoying myself.

What would you do? Tell the wife to forget it and continue my hobby or quit fishing and sell the boat as she insists?

Thanks, A fisherman

PS I have enclosed the picture of Sam showing off the bass we caught.

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

It is most difficult for me to diagnose the fisherman's wife, she obviously has some great fears in the recesses of her mind. I cannot see anything wrong with Sam, on the contrary, Sam looks pretty good to me!
However I managed through devious means to find out a bit more about the fisherman, only because about three hundred of my friends recognised Sam from the Point Road area. After that it was relatively easy to get her telephone number from a number of call boxes, they were written all over the walls, as confirmation I also saw her number printed on the urinal wall at Teasers where I was doing research on the average age of the female stripping community. On telephoning her and a personal visit she gave me the fisherman's home address and telephone number.
I phoned his wife to find out what the problem was and she immediately asked me to come around to discuss her marital woes. I immediately saw the problem, it was one of disbelief, she could not understand why her husband was neglecting her, I must admit, nor could I!

A photo taken during our couch session, I left her feeling cured and satisfied!
