Digital Content Tax/VAT

http://businesstech.co.za/news/general/ ... -in-april/

So 1 April is D-day so to speak. I don't have an issue off the bat with it however at current all online purchases for digital content is more expensive than local retailed products. I guess I would have to ask will we still pay the same price and VAT is already included or will we be even more over burdened and be charged 14% on the already 20% overcharge?

Welcome to first world taxes - too bad you still live in a 3rd world country.

I'm getting deja vu - have I said that before :?:

Ken Ham... first time I heard of him... whats his crime? Believing the bible?

Oh damn, hang him for being so silly.

Wait... what.... some witchdoctor claims they can make you a muti that makes you invisible, cures your aids and gives you a permanent erection forever?

Give them the title of "traditional healer" the status of a doctor and allow them to write medical diagnosis for people that public and private sectors have to accept.

I think Africa is a trump card in itself... ;)

But none of this lovely banter answers the question:

Yes, but he is doing it quite heinously.

Has anyone had any success with something like MyUsAddress.com, or personally know someone who's used them, like are they reliable or not?

I wonder if SARS is going to force banks to add x% to whatever transactions go to merchants like Amazon and www.MyBrandNewECommerceSiteInCrimeaThat ... HourAgo.su?

Edit:
Hang on, never mind, I think that for international online transactions most of the banks have to use a third party like SWIFT don't they?

Get as creative as you want, but buying from other countries will mean converting your monopoly money to something valuable like greenbacks, Euros or Pounds.

It's still gonna hurt.

Way well done on the off topic guys... :?
And by the admins no less? What have we become?

Anyway.

Anyone have anything more regarding the VAT thing? I for one can not imagine how they will collect if you're paying via Paypal for instance?

I'm so missing something here...

But yes, let's attempt to be responsible users (unless you're using Linux, in which case you're a LUSER!!! ;- ) back to the www.MyBrandNewECommerceSiteInCrimeaThat ... HourAgo.su question. I was talking about this, this morning and I'm not sure if SARS really cares about your R130 Tweety and the Powerpuff Girls comic book from www.MyBrandNewECommerceSiteInCrimeaThat ... HourAgo.su It's more concerned about the biggies like Amazon, ebay, paypal, Google Play, Microsoft App store and the TheUsefulPartOfTheAppleIsInTheMissingPiece store.

How they're gonna police in app purchases with games, eish. Maybe SARS will target MS, Google et al and hold them responsible for their own app stores and IAP that apps in their stores use.

@doo I did try to bring it back on topic! However the latest news of hamin visiting had me derail it :(. Will create a thread just for him. Anyone responding only respond about the topic at hand not the hamin return ;).

So basicly SARS is just as clueless on the implementation as we are?
