If it wasnt for the memory I would have said go with the 7790. But since the 6950 is 256-bit and has 2gb vs the 128-bit and 1gb its better going for the older generation card.

The joys of shopping online for the best deals. If you're unwilling to but from different vendors don't expect the best you can get. If you can't get that card at Rebeltech and you don't want to buy from Wootware, then get the best you can from Rebeltech.

The 6950 is a 2011 card, same as the geforce 5xx series. It means they have old stock they want to get rid of. But look at it like this, you are paying R1800 for a card that normally went for R4000.

OK i see what you mean then.

Can you link both?

Looks like the EVO is the better board. It supports both Sli and Crossfire, has two full x16 PCI-E lanes, has better sound features, more USB 3 ports, etc.

The Pro is no slouch by any means though. How much of a difference in price is there?

The Pro is sold out, which might mean it is not available any more and that that was an old price. Prices might have gone down. That EVO is a killer motherboard for that price!

How about just kick the budget in its @*@*@*@

And buying piece by piece???

So what i first got on the list is the

Amd fx 8350
Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0

And psu cooler master gx2 650

Drop that FX 8350 for the FX 8230. It is 0.5ghz gone but R600 saved and performance wise you can spend money elsewhere. Without reading into it I'll accept the GX2 650W is powerfull enough for your needs.

To be honest, if you want to go that way, I'd rather get a better graphics card than motherboard, or even better, invest in a good quality SSD. Then at least you'll gain some real performance.

Chart of hierarchy with graphics cards. They have one for CPUs. Just ignore the pricing since it does not apply to us.

I won't recommend the SSD at your budget. You obviously want to game first. The boot time ect is outside of gaming.

A bump to a Sapphire 7870 GHz edition OC is about R1200.

so cut on the board?
spend more on a gpu?
rather take the fx8320?

so the board is not worth it?what do i get that worth it?

and witch is better Intel or Amd?when spend R8000 - R10 000

if you would put a rig together for that cash what would it be,only thinking of cpu, gpu, psu, ram, motherboard, case and still keeping in mind so save cash but get a decent build that will be solid

Personal opinion, I'd go with intel.

You are looking at an i5. Any of the i5s will do but haswell is new and the boards for them are expensive. So...

i5 3330 or 4430 is 3ghz and costs 2.2k (wasnt it 2k last week? ) then you can go real cheap with the socket 1155 board and go http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=9043 which is R700 with 2 ram slots, 1 pci-e 16x v3 slot, 4 usb 3.0 ports and 1 sata6 port.
For R1.3k you can get the socket 1155 board http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=5700 or the socket 1150 haswell board http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... s_id=10362 . Just forget about SLI or crossfire.

So i5 3330 + B75 board = R3k, i5 3330 + Z77 board = R3.5k, i5 4430 + B85 board = R3.5k .
Ram is gonna be R1k which ever way your looking at it.
Your psu is gonna be another R1k
Your case can be anything from R0.5k to R1k.
Depending on that you have a nice bit left for a gpu. infact you now have R2.5k for your geforce 660.

Remember you dont have any hdd, dvd drive or os with this build. just the box without drives or software.

Ok I've reread your first post, I checked rebeltechs pricing, checked the product offering and think we can do this:

CPU - i5 3470 - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=6690 - R2.3k
Mobo - B75MA-E33 - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=9043 - R700
Ram - G Skill sniper 1600mhz 2x4gb - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=5342 - R900
PSU - Thermaltake 650W lite with 2 x 8pin (2+6) - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=5675 - R600
Case - CoolerMaster Elite 370 with front usb 3 - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=5809 - R500
GPU - gigabyte geforce 660ti - http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?ma ... ts_id=7467 - R2700

Your total is R7700. If you lower the GPU you will hit that R7k mark.

Pretty solid build that.

Yep, a big expensive motherboard will not gain you any real performance, neither will grossly expensive RAM. The most important components for that is the CPU and GPU. If you can fit a good 128GB SSD in there after all this, it would make a huge difference, trust me.

I recently tried a cheap as poop 32GB low spec SSD and the difference was still pretty eye opening. I soon after that upgraded to a proper Intel 520 series 240GB and have never looked back. 128GB should be enough though, as long as you install your games on a separate hard drive.

PS: I need to update my system specs.

I'd say leave the SSD until after the gpu is up to snuff. But yeah a 60gb SSD will be a mindblowing improvement for windows 7 and 120gb is the drives I normally recommend as minimum since some people wants to run a game or 2 from the thing.

As for me I'm looking for either another 480gb or 960gb drive. Think there is 100gb left on my other games ssd and just over 60gb on my steam ssd. My main drive can also do with a cleanup.
