Ok so what I wan't to know is can a pci express slot stop working if there is a problem with the cpu like bent pins or thermal past that got in underneath the cpu? Also I read somewhere that the pcie controller is in the CPU on 1156 mobos and onwards. Also how would a gpu like a hd 6670 perform in a pcie x1 slot how much performance would it loose? Oh and does anyone know where the CPU temp sensor is. And lastly when I restart my PC after windows is off the PC beeps for like 5s and then restarts but it doesn't happen when I shut the PC down what's up?

unfortunately no idea. As far as I know not all pci-e slots will be accepted as graphics card slots by your mobo and a gpu will only scale between 4x-16x.

The most important question I would like answered is the first one.

It could be that damaged pins / thermal paste disrupting contact will disrupt the PCI-e bus. As you state the PCI-e controller is indeed built in the CPU.

The graphics card will not function in a 1x slot.

CPU has one built in, most motherboards have one also below the CPU.

I have no idea. Hardware not initializing quickly enough after reboot?
