It's shaped similar to Microsoft's Xbox 360 Slim, and though it's slightly larger than either a 360 or PlayStation 3, the X51 R2 would be right at home in a living room setting nestled next to a large screen TV. Indeed, it's adept at running Steam's Big Picture mode, and if your primary objective is to play games in the living room, go ahead and consider the X51 R2 a hybrid game console
 hate to imagine the local price-point...

Won't your wife miss your limbs? How will she open stuck glass jars if you don't have arms?

How would you use the console without limbs?

Firstly, its not a console.
Secondly, I believe I linked this thing around telling certain people that continues to sell and buy their hardware consistently to check it out.

I've looked at it. I thought about it. I wanted to buy it. But at the end I decided against it.

The best GPU it can currently run is a gtx660 geforce due to power requirements. It sports a bluray drive, a 2tb harddrive, a 64gb msata ssd in certain models, 8gb ddr3, an i7 3770k all tucked in neatly into a tiny box. Damn it looks sweet and I sure would like to buy one. Problem is again due to the power unit is uses you cannot replace the gpu.

As rusty said he would hate to imagine the price point. No worries rusty, no need to imagine. It retails for R18k but that was 1 month ago before the R10/$ exchange rate.

Now the actual reason I decided not to buy this. I'm already use to my PCs performance but even this machine can do 60fps in most games. To PS4 though will launch at around R6000. It just makes more sense to go for a console in the living room that will be specced to reach those frame rates in its games and keep a passable frame rate for its life time.

I understand your reason but I have one that trumps all yours... Games. Buy one game on Steam and I can play it on console or pc.

Pretty awesome, but that price, eish. Will keep my PS3 for some time still and then finally upgrade to a PS4.

Well the idea behind these babies will ofcoarse be to compete with the consoles as they get older. You can play all steam games now, but in 5 years you might start running into trouble while a actual console won't.
