I am not Dead
Edit:
Hey everyone
It's nice to be back for a quick visit! Who's still around? I see that Anak is still here (*wave*) so is Starbound. Tribbs, Ron and rustypup too! Where's jamin nowadays - Australia? And KK, have you gotten yourself married yet?
And if memory serves me correctly Anak was supposed to have a little one running around by now - how's that coming along?
Cheers and nice to see everyone again,
GDI Lord
(and NO, I haven't forgotten about finishing up my thread on explaining the ins and outs of RAM

Re: I am not Dead
Long story short, a few bans happened, sadly I don't know the details and didn't much care to find out. Words are a powerful weapon.
You should stick around. Take a trip to the picture thread ect

It is I, the artist formerly known as jamin.
RonSwanson2K decided it would be amusing to rename me and I just don't care enough to change my name back

Stick around GDI_Lord! PCF is all but dead at the moment. We desperately need an influx of members!

And returning to the PCF crypt isn't exactly the way of proving your status as a not-quite-dead person...

Re: I am not Dead
Tee hee ok puppy - first we need to establish whether an inanimate object such as a forum can be considered alive. As it doesn't breathe - that is rather tricky to do. But living things also ingest and spew. Both of which this forum does. It grows and grows and expels all sorts of things. Some worthy and some not so. So we can say that a very loose definition of life will apply here.
Now death. There is dead - totally and completely - utterly mors dood. There is brain dead - where the excretion and ingestion continues - but there is no longer anything worthwhile happening. And then there is the inbetween - neither totally dead nor totally brain dead - but also not alive either. Perhaps the dear forum falls into this category. On its way to brain dead - but with the odd electrical impulse that gives one hope that there may still be something there.
Oh yes - Monty Python FTW! Guess what - my mother would have classed that (naah I lie -she would still class that) as brain dead humour. I, on the other hand, luff it!

Re: I am not Dead
I remember that lancelot left, but when was he banned? Have all the old admins been banned for security reasons or something?
EDIT:
And yes, I know, it may or may not have happened before I left here for a bit, but it feels like almost A LIFETIME ago since I was an active member here last. In reality it was probably the middle of last year, 2012. Oh, wait look: it was Sat Aug 27, 2011 2:38 pm to be exact.
A lot of stuff has happened that has caused some stuff to get garbage collected: I've finally started finishing my computer science degree. I have almost all of it from my time that I spent at Tukkies/Pretoria University, I'm finishing through UNISA. Doing calculus again after about ten years was initially quite challenging, but it's fun again now. I write my first exam in 7 or 8 years again on the 23rd of May.
I've managed to lose about 15kg and increase my fitness level and eliminated back muscle spasms. Very cool! I've been a bit lazy the past three and a half weeks though but I'm getting back into the swing of things!
Still at the same job I was at in 2011. People have changed, but the job is still pretty much acting as a data janitor and then making the clean data available and visible to the people who need it.
The airline industry is quite interesting. Not just the work and the rules and the data and the thinking that is needed to process all of it, but also something else that I've noticed. When I got here it struck me that there were an unusually high number of married couples working here in the few departments that I interacted with. I thought that it was just a "thing" at the company because it was originally a family-owned business and still had a family member at the helm until late 2011, but a friend in the States who works for a company that provides systems to airlines also told me that he met his wife when he was working for an airline and said that airlines are a "very close-knit business." Since then I've learnt of so many people who are either married in the company, got married while working here, have their brother/sister/mother-in-law(!) working here it's almost crazy! Oh, and I also was very surprised by something that I was totally not expecting here at work.
And no, you're not allowed to nor will you stab me.
At all.
I'm not into that.

lancelot was grossly insubordinate and then left before I pushed him out. I later locked the door behind him.GDI_Lord wrote:I remember that lancelot left, but when was he banned?
I cannot say whether these users will be unbanned or not, as I have since reduced my forum responsibility to technical matters only; hence, Stuart and Anakha56 have final authority over the forum ban list.

Yeah Ron... *sigh*... like water flowing in a river under a bridge... times change... attitudes change... people change...
Some say that people don't change but I say that some do and some don't, but that's influenced by what I believe - see sig.
