forgetfull gaming experiences 2013

I've already broken my new years resolution of not buying more than 2 games for the first 6 months of the year. As we are entering the 5th month I find myself looking back and not able to recall that many games that stood out despite them have big launch names.

Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch on PS3 stands out the most when I think back on my games list.

However Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite offered a strangely forgetfull experience. DS3 had some interesting moments with Carver getting things on screen that Isaac didn't. Crysis 3 offered 2 decent boss fights lacking from games these days. Tomb Raider ...had a bunker that reminded me of the fort in Uncharted and Bioshock had its inverted opening from Rapture to Columbia and a ending that turned some heads. But nothing in those 4 really struck me as something I haven't seen before. All of them brought some enjoyment but no lasting after thoughts.

I don't think I will ever forgot Bioshock Infinite. The ending left me thinking about it long after. Until now only movies could do that.

What gaming experiences have you had with friends that you enjoyed together? The older I get the more I realise that life is about PEOPLE and not about THINGS.

If I want a quiet moment by myself of just indulging I go back to my classic games collection of DOS games and abandonware and those truly great games from when games were designed with you, the single player, in mind. Of course, nostalgia from having grown up on these games and have them be an influence in my development could also have coloured my judgement there, but I doubt it. :-)

Well with that GDI logo I remember the one night me and my cousin stayed up from 8pm to 3am to try and complete Nod mission 9 I think. The one with the commando and the stupid boats at the bottom of the river.

Just a quick point out as this thread is semi derailing. It is about the games you bought and played in 2013, not the memories of games from better times or times way past.

In shocking news, who remembered that StarCraft 2 Heart of the Swarm was released this year? Because its already forgotten. Blizzard games had that lasting impression in the past but now...

My bro went crazy when SC 2 launched. Wasn't even interested in HotS.

1 - I'm still playing it
2 - It's an expansion, not a new game (no matter how Bliz want to spin it)
3 - Your jimmies

Crysis 3 was meh.

Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite was really good. I doubt that there will be a better game this year than Tomb Raider.

Maybe Watch Dogs
