I was just wondering if this pricewar between the cellular networks will actually mean something in the long run.
I'd like to hope it will nudge Telkom in the direction of finally considering Naked ADSL, but getting back to the land of realists, Julius Malema probably has a better shot at a MBA. However it is quite interesting to me that they all consider their current promotional offerings to be earth-shattering. Anyone who does a little comparison internationally, knows that by those standards, we are still being held back in this landscape, while government and the mobile telecoms perform fellatio on each other. Or maybe they are slowly being forced to wake-tf-up.
So called Pricewar?

Re: So called Pricewar?
The price wars between Cellular networks have traditionally meant nothing to Telkom.
Now that Telkom have 8ta that division might care.
I'm curious how cellular networks having a slap-fight over who is ripping customers off the least would make Telkom consider a land-line product that would earn them less money...
This is a company that has been lying to you for years about the speed it's copper network can support.
For those not in the know, 8mb is what your ADSL network can run on. Not 512K, 1mb, 2mb or 4mb
And with a little effort they could get that all the way up to 24mb
But no, it's easier to slowly raise the bar (and the price) than it is to come right out and admit they are charging premium prices for an abysmally poor service built on an archaic cost model.
As for cellular networks - they are all in cahoots. Vodacom and MTN might compete at certain things, but on the whole it's collusion, not competition.
So how about NO.... does NO work for you?

Having to reboot my router every hour or so has lost its appeal. The better part of a year and more techies than I care to count have 'looked' at the problem- and it's still meh.
