If I could get a i5 3570k then maybe but since that is worth way more than it not much chance

IMO if your not planning on overclocking then just get what you want to get. I'm purely from the perspective that new tech trumps old and i5/i7 is awesome in any form. If you have the i5 750 you should not be considering an upgrade

but then I got the i7 3930k up from i7 860 with mind set on OC to 4ghz that at the end of the day was just a waste. Again in my previous post an i5/i7 can run anything.

Are you going to overclock your cpu? Odds are you will need more cores before you need more speed. Is paying the extra amount for a K worth getting something you might not use? From the looks of it its R2k for the 3470 (3.2ghz), R2.3k for the 3570 (3.4ghz) and R2.5k for the 3570K. Remember all i-series cpus comes with turbo boost that will "overclock" some of your cores if you do not need all cores active.

Probably wont OC. Because A) dont need to and B) I dont want to risk damaging anything

Then I'd say K is not worth the extra bit. A few months back K was actually cheaper than non-K due to supply.

Its just ramping up the default clock to the highest Turbo boost multiplier your non-K CPU can reach. Nothing really special about it, you can do it manually on every other Z77 board on the market.

Stig, go for the i5-3470 if you don't want a K-series model. Its still more than enough performance to get the job done, costs R500 less than the i5-3570K and you can overclock it in the Extreme 4's BIOS by ramping up the default clocks to 36x. You're not voiding any warranties and you won't be damaging anything either. Even with the K-series family, you don't need to overclock but the option is there.

3470 does sound like a good option, might well go for it.

And about that overclocking feature, I see that most asrock boards have it. Bit gimmicky

Yeah, they all do. ASUS has this One-Click OC thingy in their UEFI BIOS, so does Gigabyte and they all have some kind of desktop application that also does one-click overclocking. A bit of a gimmick, yes, but at least it works.

All true. Its pretty much between the 3570k and the 3470 now. Similar performance but one has an unlocked multiplier

Placed the order today for the parts. Should arrive by Wednesday or Thursday

Yep. I hope so, battlefield 3 should be less stodgy. Singleplayer was fine but multiplayer not so much

Getting a GPU upgrade today or tomorrow, from my 4850 to a 5850. Benches say it should be pretty substantial, not to mention DX11.

Yes that it should. Still stuck with my 450 for now then will maybe look at a 650ti or something from AMD

MSI twinfrozer 3 geforce 660 should set you up for a year or 2
But 650ti should be fine for you.

660 would be best, hopefully the price will fall. Otherwise the 650ti(standard 650 is pointless) will do

There is one thing. When your system gives you a not so nice spark.

It lives!! Took a bit of fiddling to get the HDD to play ball in AHCI mode though
