started of with a Gigabyte sumo 5115 case



front panel of the case - i like the neat look when the front panel is closed .... it looks elegant but obviously you can swing it open to access all the optical devices you wish to install



something else that i like about the case is the front logo in dark light - this is what you see on the floor in front of the case



so this is what the internals of the case look like now - hopefully i will be doing a bit more work to make it even neater


what the HSF fan combo looks like in combination with the huge graphics card

plans for later upgrades are only to do the following things

1) upgrade the CPU to a higher end "IVY BRIDGE" 3770k when i have the cash
2) install a solid state drive as an O/S drive and use a large 2TB drive for storage
3) make the internals much neater by adding some shrouds to hide the wiring
4) redo the case window with a much better attempt since i dropped some superglue on this one (hence the smudges you see in some of the pics

How did you do the face btw?

i did it all a while back - this project was to use up stuff that was lying around

i cut that out of perspex with my ryobi pencil grinder (similar to a dremel)



then it was sandpapered



painted with a couple of coats of primer



then painted black



so recently i gave it a new coat of black and some lacquer and then i stuck it onto the perspex which is in turn glued onto the side panel after that was cut out

small progress here - a buddy of mine wanted the intel board i had on sale on various forums and he wanted my i3-2120 as well - so thats now been moved on and in return i put in around 700 bucks or so and got myself an i5-3570k (the k version which can overclock)

so it isnt the i7-3770k that i so wanted but its good enough - so now only a solid state drive remaining to replace my conventional hard drive to drag me fully into the 21st century

okay guys - so this is what my kingston hyperX ram looked like (kind of ..... but the exact ram i had is pictured elsewhere in this thread)




and i had a buddy who wanted this ram so he bought me some identical ram which just had the bigger heat spreader and i swopped him the old stuff and gave him the R200 cash difference to get the ram that looked like this



and i also got myself that little Kingston ram cooler that you see there cos it was only 150 bucks



then i landed up getting rid of the air cooler cos the temps were a bit highish - and i replaced it with a Corsair H100 watercooler. The reasoning behind the ready made watercooler vs custom watercooling is that the custom stuff is too high maintenance - i wanted a fit and forget solution

so this is what the rear outside of the case looks like now

waterblock with fans at full speed - the regular case fans are still in place .... so this means that the radiator is being cooled in a push/pull manner
