I am looking at getting a nice pair of gaming headphones soon, for sub R1000.
The Roccat Kove looks really sweet but would appreciate opinions on the matter
What do you have and what do you recommend?
Thanks

If you could get yourself a tad higher than R1k you could get the Diablo 3 headset.

Its the one I would go for but right now my camera needs a tripod and battery so no new headphones for me...

with features like:
- random 2 second lag with a rare "dead" 10 seconds
volume is capped 5 regardless of labelling. (volume levels 6 through 11 available from the RMAH for a modest fee)
it's a steal!
also, isn't that "Roccat Kave"? (or Kone?)
my check list for good headphones
1) are they comfortable?
2).. i'm done...
sound is such a perceptual thing you will need to experiment to find the kit you prefer...
also, overpriced, platinum plated, panda-furred-woo headphones are very much a con and will offer you nothing much more than the ~R200 variety...

My Sennheiser HD201 [under R300] cans have served me well for many a year.

+1.
Skullcandy is proof of this. imo they are nothing more than R50 headphones with fancy colours and bling attached.....break very easily

careful on those razer headgear, they are overpriced and fall in pretty much every category the Pup mentioned... they are also very uncomfortable.
/sidenote
Stuart, remember the headgear you gave me some 2/3 odd years back? My 2year old daughter all but destroyed them, mic broken off, cable ripped out, hole pressed into the left side driver. I wept.

This is pretty much what you want, very efficient, comfortable, get the job done and with a reliable brand... and most important, does not break the bank.

HiJack - -
I am looking for simpleton headgear that uses a USB connector, no stereo plug that goes into some sound-device.

Your bumping because...?
I have a set of Logitech Clear Chat Pro. Works wonders for when you have surround sound and want something for TS or vent. The other one I can semi recommend is the Logitech G35. It has a virtual surround emulator. Both are usb.

I would recommend the sound blaster tactic 3d alpha by creative labs. Gives that cinema quality bass when watching movies and gaming

Dual Mode - Analog or USB
THX certified
Detachable mic
3D surround
