Wellerstein's site does not include terrorist "dirty" bombs.

What is the difference between a "dirty" bomb and a clean bomb? Does the clean bomb kill only the criminal?

Dirty bombs have some kind of contaminant in them, like radioactive material.

A bomb is a bomb. Its intent is to do as much harm and kill as possible. Weather is clean or dirty.

A typical 'dirty' bomb won't harm much and probably won't even kill all that many.
But it will porbably casue a panic that'd do the job quite well.

Oh and by the way - as far as I can tell Mr Wellerstein is a historian - not a physicist. So keep the proverbial pinch of salt around...

pinch of salt - yeah Dooh Darlin, I do. And I will admit that there are a few houses that I want to nuke... really really bad and really really in real life. This is like the game where you hit the penguins..... making destruction fun. Or a stress releaver. Or what ever. I am sure the Iranians use it on various part of the world to practice

Oh - and I thought a dirty bomb was laced with little bits of metal or glass - to cause more human damage. What is that kind called then?doo_much wrote:

I think a dirty bomb is when they cover a C4 explosive with Carbon metal balls in order to achieve maximum impact.

A dirty bomb doesn't have a huge blast, but has a huge output of radiation.

And yes - I'm using Wikipedia as a refence since it agrees with what I know on the subject.

I wonder if the use of DU in penetrators makes these 'dirty bombs'? And then what does the use of DU in armour amount to?
