Another Public Holiday

Post by KatrynKat »

Pretoria - Acting president Kgalema Motlanthe on Wednesday added another public holiday to the festive season.

According to an announcement by the presidency, December 27 will now also be a public holiday.

Motlanthe is acting president while President Jacob Zuma is in Mozambique for a state visit.

And I wish I could use it to tell people to go home and rest but I can't since fueling stations aren't allowed to close on any holiday.

Give me a higher position and I would have forced closing for holidays.

Not allowed? Do you mean the owner doesn't allow it or is it a legal thing?

The new holiday means we get stock this week that should have come on the 27th, meaning I can stay on holiday throughout next week and over the new year. Hooray!

It is a legal thing. The fall in the bracket with emergency services.

I wouldn't exactly call needing to fill your car with petrol on the 26th an emergency or even that packet of salted chips that you so despirately crave either.

Oh a heads up. A ton of suppliers have closed for the week and half of them only reopens the 3rd or the 9th of January. I suggest you guys stock up on munchies else you might find yourself looking at tin foil al'aking with dove soup stuffing.

Well if emergency medical services runs out of fuel and you are in an accident in need of emergency medical attention... what do you think... would you rather have those people working in order to save a life....

What your describing is either major neglect from those emergency services to ensure they are stocked or a mass retardation where everyone is in a genecidal accident.

I do see your point but we can't even skeleton staff eg 2-4 people to man the pumps. It needs to be 6-8 with all ails accessible.

Even so I still feel there should be that 1 or 2 days a year where everyone should have off and everyone could close. But then there is the risk factor of those out with sinister intent, the person who against better judgement decides to test their alcohol tolerance level and the ever present running with scissors scenario.

I'd love to report them somewhere - a while ago they ran out of all grades of petrol the night before the price was supposed to go up. 'Luckily' they had managed to be re-stocked by 06:00 the next morning. Yeah sure...

Needless to say I do not support them. At all. :x

:D That could work - assuming I can find a match that's at least 100m long!

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

My 'running speed' is severely limited by a huge dislike of physical excercise and an even huger middle-age bierboep.

So pass.
