Men spend more time getting ready than women, research shows

Post by Stuart »

On average men spend 81 minutes a day on personal grooming, including cleansing, toning and moisturising, shaving, styling hair and choosing clothes, the study found.

Women have their beauty regime down to a fine art and get hair, clothes and make-up done in just 75 minutes.

The research, carried out for Travelodge, found that on an average morning men spend 23 minutes in the shower, compared to 22 minutes for women.

Men then take 18 minutes on their shaving regime, compared to 14 minutes for women despite them having to trim legs, armpits and bikini line.

Men take a minute longer - 10 minutes - on cleansing, toning and moisturising.

Takes me 30 min in the morning to get out the door. That includes a shower, having a smoke, getting dressed, getting all my gear ready, picking up the keys and getting out. 28 min in a shower... must be cuz there is a woman with them in the shower holding them up.

I can shower and get ready in 15 minutes - but then I am not a typical woman. I don't cleanse, tone and moisturize. I also only do basic makeup. Nothing fancy.

Must say - I do get ready faster than someone else I know....

You know the researchers are just going to accuse you of homophobia, chauvinism and probably racism and disregard everything you ever say again, right?

I call shenanigans on this research.

I haven't washed my face with any sort of product (other than soap or shower gel) since my Clearasil days a teenager.
Also, I never use moisturiser or lotion... well... that's not entirely true.
But when I have used it, it was not for it's intended purpose, so it probably doesn't count anyway.

And I know I'm in the majority here.

Bias, unscientific research by feminists.

Ya about this article :| , i totally disagree with it, this article probably applies to this new metrosexual type "men" =- no discrimination now, the one's that straighten their hair, and apply lotsa moisturizers, i need like 30 min tops to finish, shower, dressed and even time to eat + hair gelled :P

So much BS.

23 mins in shower + 18 minutes having = 41 minutes in bathroom.

81 - 41 = 40 minutes CHOOSING CLOTHES?

There are 2 words that I would say to these "researchers". The second one is "off".

What BS is all this. Since when do men take longer. The only way they obtained this info is by getting those who bat for the other side to partake in their survey.

I think we should do our own survey......

How to choose clothes, man style!

1. Is it in the closet? If no, proceed to step 2. If yes proceed to step 3.

2. Is it in the laundry basket / pile of clothes? If yes, proceed to step 3.

3. Is it more or less clean ie. are there any highly visible stains? If no proceed to step 4. If yes return to step 1, or proceed to step 4 if brave / drunk /indifferent.

4. Wear.

You know you cant just add rustypup's name to any sort of list without him first checking with his wife to make sure it's okay....

I was just going with the most useful candidates. Don't tell me you've never suspected that rusty takes longer than his wife to get ready for work in the morning. Have you seen his hair?

That's a typical Irish mop, no maintenance required. Just chug a pint of beer, pour the leftover foam into your hair, rub vigorously for 10 seconds and voilà!
