Your games of the year 2011
Posted: 17 Nov 2011, 20:00
A month and a half remains but the list of games still hitting us are at an end. Torchlight 2 is still set for sometime in December but it has no official date yet and StarWars the Old Republic is hitting US and EU 20 December (heard we might not get it till next year).
But even so time to list up those games that made you smile this year. Atleast the handful that got you smiling more than others:
Uncharted 3 (PS3)
I'd never have thought a PS3 could pull off what it did in this game. Gone from the Tomb Raider style of play this has evolved into an action movie but the set pieces will be remembered that made this game worth playing.
Witcher 2 (PC)
I don't know if it was due to Dragon Age 2 being the game it was or if this game just truly deserved its spot. Detailed beyond belief, an engrossing story and multiple paths this game is what defines an RPG. Choice, choice, choice and your actions has an effect on all of it.
Catherine (PS3)
I still don't know what to classify this game as. It is a puzzel game, with anime cut scenes, a bar area to chat with the patrons about how they feel and a story that has you on the edge of your seat asking what happens next. It is a uniqueness that isn't seen in many games and if you looking for something deep and different then this game holds the prime spot for being weird.
Deus Ex Human Revolution (PC)
There aren't many games around that gives you the amount of choices that deus ex offer. Usually a first person shooter will be on rails asking you to press x to continue or jump to enter another barrage of cut scenes. DE gets back to the PC gamer aspect of gaming where you would go about finding each secret on a level and make sure no one is left standing. The ability to drag and place items or npcs in the most awkward situations ever helps if you don't feel like finishing off a level just yet. While take downs are stilled world with action animations it isn't to bad when you consider the alternative was being sniped while having someone in an arm lock.
Skyrim (PC)
I never got into Oblivion or Morrowind the way I got into Skyrim. No more restictions on a build you can customize yourself as you carry on applying your perks to what you use the most. The open world varies enough to keep things looking interesting and the amount of quests is enough to match world of warcraft. Visually stunning and the people feel alive.
