Hi guys,
I have just built a new pc, and I kept my old hdd and plugged it into my new system, it all seems to work, but I'm getting random crashes and some games aren't working properly, they will work for a while and then crash with the error "the program has stopped working". I have quite a few games on steam, I only have a 1mb/s internet line. Most of these games have updates an patches that are a few gb's in size, and at 53kbps it will take me weeks to downlad again. So that brings me to my question, I want to format my hdd and do a clean install of windows, is there some way to save or back up my steam games/files so that I won't have to reinstall and download all my games?? Any help would be appreciated... Thanks guys!

What RRF said.

You can use Steam's backup tool to make a backup and then do a restore of all your game data, or simply copy your STEAMAPPS folder somewhere, the after you reinstall windows and steam, copy the contents of steamapps back.
