Chopper crash at UCT

Post by Ron2K »

News24 wrote:Cape Town - A helicopter has crash landed at the University of Cape Town's campus on Wednesday.

The cause of the accident was unknown but a Facebook user was quoted as saying that it "crashed at middle campus. I saw it spinning around and it was touching the trees. Then it just dissapeared and went boom (sic)."

Campus security told News24 on Wednesday morning that the chopper went down at about 09:00.

A Baxter Theatre staffer en route to her office said emergency vehicles were seen rushing to the scene.

Police were reluctant to comment when contacted by News24, saying only that the helicopter had made "a landing".

The pilot was injured in the crash, ER24 told News24.

Had the chopper gone down 10 minutes earlier or if I had left for work 10 minutes later - I may not be posting this right now.

Red star shows the crash site, blue line is my route to work. That's far too close for comfort.

MOOD - Thirsty

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is probably a little bit of an exaggeration.

"Too close for comfort" is still quite a way off your route.

Then again, if I was flying a chopper and saw a smurf in the Lurkmobile, I might be tempted to go kamikaze myself . . .
