Nab, money has always been the driving force behind management, leaving the rest of us workers to find the golden way to make the money and keep the clients happy. Not an easy task. It never was, and never will be. I think, for many of us, we are expecting PCF to be everything computer BECAUSE there is nothing else.

I cannot tell you how much its used by us due to the work we do (and particularly now that we are setting up Gaming Centers). It is just so much more easy to bring the printed matter to Management and not just a digital copy of ephemeral data that can (and will) disappear in the ether.

One piece of advice came from my Daddy many many moons ago. He said "My Darlin, somewhere out there someone is going to hate you, and someone is going to love you. Why waste precious time worrying about the first one?"

ps just take the "my Darlin" out :)

ps Anakaha... we can turn this website into something close to/better than theregister and ars and slashdot :)

Agreed that we could get it to that level. Its just I really miss those articles, Anandtech is now my only source but even then they are few and far between. :(

So, how do we turn Gear to the one-stop first on the goodies site?

While Michael wasn't far off in saying our readership isn't shrinking
how are the numbers calculated ? do you:
  • count how mags are actually purchased from stores or

count how many mags are supplied to stores (when there are surplus at the stores at month end, are those included in the sales or actually excluded from the count)

PCFormat is audited by the AUDIT BUREAU OF CIRCULATIONS OF SOUTH AFRICA. Check inside most magazines in SA and your will find the ABC badge showing that the publication is auditted to make sure that they are not lying about their sales figures.

awe come on....thats not really an answer, i don't really worry about how many are sold, just how the count is performed.

Its like a CD, an artist may go platinum cause his album sales are 4 trillion, but maybe those cds are all sitting in a shop somewhere....

Our numbers are based on the number of magazines sold, not printed.

Maybe its time to merge with hustler or playboy and bring back the front page model. That will double the sales :P Imagine an in-depth review of the core i9 and next to it an in-depth look at the cover model :D

...then again it might distract us from the beautiful and eligant cpu that can produce more curves than she can have...

Well, I wouldnt stop you. To me it would be like going back to the old PCF days :P

Going back to the past is never what one expects. You can Never Ever have the same moments again, the same quality of voice and the timbre of the writing, the colour of the pixels or the attire of the models. Anyone who cannot live with change will die a bored fossilized turdish slow death.

Oh, and there seems to be something wrong with either your reading skills or your understanding of the meaning of the English language ;) Tribbs is not into exhibitionism, but rather into portraying subjects in her lens other than herself :)

But I doubt that there will ever be a nice girl on the cover ever again..........people like the boring gaming related covers too much :(

The mag is changing too much for my liking :( looks as if it will be called 'G3AR' soon and that will be a sad day

^^

Dude PCFormat is PCFormat .... GEAR is GEAR.... two entities that just happens to be shipped within the same packaging for political reasons GEAR was created to facilitate the publishing of this forum and the release of reviews, previews and news on the main site... Nab did a whole forum post about it a couple of days ago. The cover and such is due to popularity, the fact that we all here like half nekkid girls holding onto some serious hardware does not speak for the whole target market of PCF or GEAR for that matter.

My mail gets delivered to my parents house so my subscription goes to their mailbox. I only see them about once every 2 months so by the time I get the mag it is 2 months old or seriously on the used side due to my dad having the habit of just opening it and perusing it without end. To tell you the truth he is actually addicted to the mag at this point basically because of the things you don't like about it. And if a 56 year old cronie is like that about the mag imagine the other people out there that actually gives a toots' behind about the things featured in the mag.

As a side note.... I for one actually buy the mag if I see it on a shelf and there looks to be something interesting inside despite having the subscription for reasons mentioned above. I like my mag to be in a mint condition when I open it for the first time.

^^ yes I do like most of the content of the mag. Never bothered to read any of the game reviews in the 4 years that I have been buying the mag(I just glance at the rating) as I prefer the hardware and the dev stuff. But there are some things that have changed that I do not like so much, like the 3rd person Luis section which I think was better before the change(but I hear it will go back to the old style soon :D ). I am not really a fan of the GEAR section but as long as it does not reduce the amount of pc hardware and tech then I dont really mind :) .

I dont have a subscription because I dont trust the post service :( so I go to CNA and buy it every month.

Well from what Nab says it looks as if from August onwards things will be much better, I want to see this upgrade your rig feature that he speaks of :D

So I wont stop buying the mag any time soon, I just want girls on the cover again :D .

Just PM jamin every month after you've bought the magazine. He will provide a picture of a covergirl from his collection free of charge.
