Obviously none of you have heard of the Steyr-Puch Haflinger.

The Halflinger is way too small. A Unimog has more loading space.

Regarding the op:

The Navara and Hilux are in a completely different market segment. Yuppies use them to commute in and around urban areas, the Jeep's comfort levels aren't as high as the aforementioned vehicles, and in urban use comfort trumps suspension travel ability by miles.

Agreed. Sadly the comfort level of the Jeep is incredibly low.
I had the misfortune of having to sit in the back seat for an hour while we drove up a mountain pass in the berg. It was a horrid experience. No doubt it is hugely capable off-road but when you need a spine replacement each time you use it I declare the vehicle invalid ;)
Also you can't put a 1 tonne load in the back of the Jeep.

From wiki:
Unimog designates a range of multi-purpose auto four wheel drive medium trucks produced by Mercedes-Benz, a division of Daimler AG. The name Unimog is pronounced [ˈuːnɪmɔk] in German and is an acronym for the German "UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät", Gerät being the German word for machine or device. Daimler Benz took over manufacture of the Unimog in 1951 and they are currently built in the Mercedes truck plant in Wörth am Rhein in Germany.
So the unimog is also a M-Benz production.
I didn't know that !

The big three pointed star on the grille didn't give you a hint?

The uni's I've seen and worked with had no branding whatsoever.

I'm sorry but Jeep are rubbish. I have a personal vendetta against Jeep and their clothing line. Why would I buy a bad car AND it's clothing line?

This is a great SUV Bukkie

To be fair, I find that their t-shirts are of really good quality. Everything else I have tried shrinks significantly in the wash, only the my Jeep shirts remain the same size, wash after wash.

I sound like a Jeep marketer, but I am not, I wish we had them as a client.

The Gladiator is said to load up to 2 tonnes in the back. Though it will use the Wrangler Unlimited chassis, the suspension will be modified for heavy loads in the back truck-bed. Don't quote me on this I can't remember where I read it.
