Hey guys!
i Currently have Telkom as my isp and i have a 5gb cap (which doesnt get me through the month) and my family keeps complaining that i use too much of the bandwidth.(ie patch downloads kill cap!)
i dont know much about isp's and modems and stuff so want to know if its possible to run 2 isp's simultaneously? and if so how do i go about doing so.....( thinking of getting a monthy account jus for me) i take it id have to switch between accounts.... we have a 2 year contract with telkom and when thats up ill cancel that and get a 384 uncapped line for browsing, that way the family is off my back... i still have a year remaining and cant wait that long....

so is it possible? if so is it complicated to set up? and what isp would be recomended?

Bridge mode, multiple PPPOE connections. Search for a how to on your specific modem.

k just had a look at my modem config... and on the page with my manually configured settings at the top right i hve WAN1 and a drop down menu... i can select WAN2, WAN 3 so on and so forth....
when i change to WAN2 i get a blank config sheet... so if i enter in the new isp details here and press apply and set WAN2 to active will this enable the new isps settings...?
it would obviously disable my current isp's connection but i dont mind using one at a time... id just switch to my new isp when my fam isn't using the internet....

just been on the afrihost site and seen they offer uncapped for like R200 they offer month to month contracts so if i pay using a credit card im going to assume that ill be getting a months internet and after the month is up my internet expires? am i right by saying this? or would i be required to give notice in order to stop using there services?
i dont wana be bound to anything and am just looking to get my own isp for a limited period of time for when i have big patch updates, or am looking to download demo's and benchmarks or things along that line....

They'll probably want a 30 day notice.

If you want once off then prepaid is your best otion. But it's not the cheapest.

ya thats my issue.... im basically gona be paying for patches if i go that route... id rather just hang on and subscribe to something like afrihost when i get another(stable)job..... atleast with having uncapped i can justify the added cost as ill have the freedom of knowing if something comes up that i need or want, i can just get it, instead of worrying about how big it is and how many gb's id have to pay for in order to get it. like now my sister wants to update her iphone and the update is 8xxmb's and that about how much we have left on our cap for the month.... death!

Cap's are such mood killers!

Go to pick and Pay and Buy gigs from them...

They sell Axxess ADSL prepaid. it doesn't expire so if you don't use the full amount it carries over. and when it does run out you top up.

just had a look on both afrihost and axxess... they advertising R99 uncapped voucher at pick n pay and shoprite.... am i reading right? what is the catch here as i dont seem to see one....???

i also went to there local only accounts and seen that they offer 10gb local for R75 with the first gb international (would i need a monthly subscribtion for this?).... this would be ideal for downloading patches and playing online games on local servers.... are there any really good local servers and if so what games....?

otherwise i just have to settle for the 1gb prepaid option which we all know doesnt require a monthly subscription....
