Hi there

Im using a Corsair 4GB kit that is CL9.
How do I lower the latency step by step?

Another thing:
The lowest you should lower your memory latency to in the Bios are the rated latencies on your ram. The rated latencies for your ram should be on a sticker on your ram sticks or with the package of the ram.

My RAM is this: 1600MHz, 9-9-9-24, 1.65V. A friend told me I could set the latencies lower easily.

First of all, may I ask - why do you want to lower the latencies?

Download cpuZ or Cpu tweaker and have a look at your memory's jedec specs.... once u have that information u can input those timings into the bios and use memtest to check for stability... this isnt advisable id rather run the ram at recommended specs.... lowering ur latency will just cause more trouble than its worth...changing ur ram timmings are also not worth it. u will not see any difference in game, and unless u running memory latency benchmarks (which no1 does....) u wont see a change in benchmark results either....

As Rajiv has said what is your reason behind changing ur latency?
my advice to u would be to just run at manufacturers specs, leave the overclocking to cpu, and gpu....

i agree with the jelly, its not really worth it. but if you insist, you would do that in the bios, just change the values and test for stability

Id rather just get lower latency RAM then. Cause i do notice a difference with lower latency

Notice a difference in what exactly mike?

I have cl6 ram, and the jelly has cl7 ram. And ram doesn't make a difference In benchmarks. And we compare scores a lot, ram isn't a major factor bro.

My friend has cl7 and i have cl9. I notice his games loading faster. and he has a worse GPU

I have not been able to get my timings below the XMP profile without running a lower frequency.

I have played around with it a bit over the last while and only in SuperPi have I seen some small benefit of running lower frequency and tighter memory timings.

Other factor such as CPU, GPU and HDD speed I think plays a bigger role.

This is a result of his hdd being faster, not so much his RAM, I think.

Yeah maybe.. My next machine will have a SSD though

Well compare both ur hdd's and have a look at the cache size and u can benchamrk them if u really want to! It would be interesting to see.
