Cache behaviour has been altered in iOS 4.3.3.

The iOS 4.3.3 update is part of the company’s response. As the release notes point out, this update contains changes to the iOS crowd-sourced location database cache, including:

• Reducing the size of the cache
• No longer backing the cache up to iTunes
• Deleting the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off

Apple has released an iOS update for the iPhone and iPad, addressing concerns that the devices were tracking users' locations.

If you install the update, the location data stored on your iPhone or iPad will reportedly only stretch back seven days, and the cache will be deleted in its entirety if you disable Location Services.

It would still be nice, of course, if the cache of location data was also encrypted - to prevent snooping eyes. Apple says that they plan to encrypt the data in the next major iOS software release (iOS 5.0?).

This still doesn't make sense to me.

They're aware of the "problem" but won't remove it. Only going to encrypt the data and maybe shorten it to 7 days...

Because it's cache, it's there for a reason. Why remove it? Who could possibly obtain this file from your phone (unless it's jailbroken, has SSH permanently enabled, has the default root password) and why would they want it?

Its the Illuminati you see. Who knows why they do these things..
