Chocking happens in cricket. The Boks aren't bad under pressure.

I'm waiting for NZ to choke... and I won't be suprised if Argentina goes... Boom!!

The Springboks cannot be labelled chokers.

That big title belongs to the SA cricket team.
The boks have shown they hve BMT and can handle big games.

I do have to agree with you on PDV though. Flying in Zane K while he still has Butch James who can play 12 and there is Aplon and Lambie who can cover 15. Butch can even play 10 and Morne Steyn can do duty at 15.

So it was a waste in my eyes to fly him over. Firstly because there are better 15's in SA than Zane. Shoot me, Louis Ludick should have been given a chance at test level. Loves running from the back and a good attacking player. Same as Lambie and secondly he is just not a good test player.

Boks by 10! :D

Most of my colleagues think that South Africa will scrape a win. I guessed 35-12 to Australia in our guess-the-score competition :-P . Now we are going to have to wait and see what happens on Sunday.

Choking happens in any sport, it is not exclusive to cricket.
I have changed my original coking comment to read the way I meant it to be understood.

Yes, but that does not automatically mean that because the Proteas are chokers that every SA sports team follows suit. The Boks have shown time and again the ability to handle high pressure situations (World Cups, Tri Nations, etc.). The Proteas have shown time and again an inability to do the same. Ergo, the Proteas are chokers; the Boks, not so much. We're not saying that choking does not happen in rugby (just look at the All Blacks!), only that it is an unfair label for the Boks.

I did not mean the Boks are serial revisiting chokers. Read my original post again.
I am saying they will choke this time round in this specific upcoming game.
I chose the other 50 because choking will be our game under this high pressure game.

Choking or no choking, near hit or near miss, it is all the same.
I am happy to be wrong, but as it stands my opinion is against a good outcome for the Boks this Sunday.

I think we will bring it home on Sunday, but next week against the All Blacks will be the big test.

I'm not particularly concerned about choking on Sunday. My concern lies more in tactical decision making. If we do lose, I reckon it will look more like this: A close game is marred when Divvy rings wholesale, completely thoughtless, changes in the last 20 minutes, which entirely upsets the flow of the game, and suddenly we're overrun by the opposition.

This my take on the game.

Australia will be running us from midfield and out wide, playing on "Mr's intercept-don't tackle" De Villiers and Habana. Kicking for relief only when in or near their 22. This will up their ball possession % significantly.

We will revert to our kicking game and forwards play in phases. The backline will be starved from good ball due to all the kicking. Poor defense from Frans Steyn and Bakkies absence will leave gaping holes that will be exploited in a number of near tries.

We will loose this by +-10.

Awhe !

We'll really miss Frans Steyn.

I agree, our game plan is pretty much what Australia likes; we kick the ball aimlessly down field and they run at us with that infernal Cooper guy in the middle of it all. We'll have to change our strategy somewhat. As long as Steyn can kick the ball out more often, it would help a lot as well. Then early in the second half Hougaard and Bismarck should come on, which will give us the dynamics we need to win the game. Ideally Bismarck should play the full 80 minutes, but yeah...

Our defence and discipline has been very good so far.

Agree on discipline. But discipline alone won't win you games, it helps prevent you from loosing (if you understand what I mean).

Our biggest worry right now is to retain possession, you cannot score points if you don't have ball in hand.
Then after we kicked the ball away, our defense will be severely tested by a non-kicking Aussie side.

I am worried about our "good" defense as the prelim games were no real true test of our defense.

Ja, if you look at the number of missed tackles in our round robin games, it's not a pretty picture. Didn't really matter against weaker opposition, but in the knockout stages . . . :?:

We lost by a insignificant significant margin.
Why we kick and kick and kick and kick.... I don't know.
From the 23 kicks we did, we have only recovered the ball 3 times. Just not worth it.

Oh well... Go New Zealand !!
